The positions taken by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had many provocations toward the feelings of the people in Syria, Iraq and Libya. What is this talk? What is this provocation for? Why is he repeating it always?
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a speech in his own special way, saying that “Turkey vows to continue its struggle stretching from Syrian and Iraq to Libya with victory for itself and for its brothers in the region”.
Why this provocation of feelings for many Arabs?
It is not a secret anymore that Erdoğan is obsessed with only one thought in all what he does, either internally, or the Turkish wars in Syria, Libya, Iraq and other regions. That is the Lausanne Treaty signed in 1923, which’s legitimacy will end in 2023.
With his choice of opening the Hagia Sophia as a mosque on 24 July, he chose this time exactly to time it to the Lausanne Treaty.
For the year 2023 the Turkish President wants “a new Turkish rebirth” to happen, or to restore sovereignty over Iraq, Egypt, Cyprus, and the Aegean Sea, but also over the Levant (Syria and Lebanon).
Connected to that, Erdoğan primarily relies on the “Atlantic raid [NATO]”, and not anything else, and that the United States will enter directly on the side of Turkey against the Russian influence in Libya.
Erdoğan signed a decree to open the Hagia Sophia as a mosque in Istanbul after the Turkish court overruled a governmental decree from 1934, which transformed the historic building to a museum.
Erdoğan published a copy of the decree. The decree states that the decision was made to hand over the administration of the Hagia Sophia mosque to the religious affairs institution of the country and open prayers there.
The same way the Turkish Presidency announced that Erdoğan agreed with his American colleague Donald Trump during their telephone conversation to work “more confidentially” to find a solution to the ongoing fight in Libya.
The announcement by the Turkish Presidency has it that Erdoğan and Trump “agreed to cooperate more confidentiality as allies… to send lasting stability to Libya”.
Last month Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavušoğlu announced that Erdoğan sent instructions to work together with the United States in Libya.
Çavušoğlu said that “Washington starts to play a more active role in Libya and our equal cooperation will result in stability in the region”. Adding that “there is a positive approach between the two presidents Trump and Erdoğan about Libya”.

وكان إردوغان وقّع مرسوماً بفتح آيا صوفيا كمسجد في اسطنبول، بعد أن ألغت محكمة تركية مرسوماً حكومياً يعود إلى عام 1934، بخصوص تحويل المبنى التاريخي إلى متحف
ونشر إردوغان نسخة من المرسوم، وينص المرسوم على أن قراراً اتخذ بتسليم إدارة مسجد آيا صوفيا، لهيئة الشؤون الدينية في البلاد وفتحه للصلاة
كذلك، أعلنت الرئاسة التركية أن إردوغان توافق مع نظيره الأميركي دونالد ترامب خلال محادثة هاتفية على العمل “بشكل أوثق” من أجل إيجاد حل للنزاع الدائر في ليبي
وجاء في بيان الرئاسة التركية، أن إردوغان وترامب “اتفقا على التعاون بشكل أوثق كحليفين… من أجل إرساء استقرار دائم في ليبيا
وأعلن وزير الخارجية التركي مولود جاويش أوغلو الشهر الماضي، أن إردوغان وجّه تعليمات بالعمل المشترك مع الولايات المتحدة في ليبيا
وقال أوغلو إن “واشنطن بدأت لعب دور أكثر فاعلية في ليبيا وتعاوننا سوياً سيسهم في استقرار المنطقة”، مضيفاً أن “هناك مقاربة إيجابية بين الرئيسين ترامب وإردوغان بخصوص ليبيا
