The statement of the Iranian Parliament’s official press office director Mehdī Raḥīmī to al-Mayadeen about “Tehran receiving an invitation” to joint the “Mecca Joint Defense Agreement” raised Israeli worries, considering that its join will provide the Coalition “a different meaning and a fundamental shift”.

أثار تصريح رئيس وكالة الأنباء الرسمية التابعة للبرلمان الإيراني، مهدي رحيمي، للميادين، بشأن “تلقّي طهران دعوة” للانضمام إلى “اتفاق مكة للدفاع المشترك”، قلقاً إسرائيلياً، باعتبار أنّ انضمامها سيُكسب التحالف “معنى مختلفاً وتحوّلاً جذرياً”.
ونقلت صحيفة “هآرتس” الإسرائيلية عن مديرة برنامج العلاقات “الإسرائيلية – الشرق أوسطية” في معهد “ميتفيم” والباحثة في “المجلس الأطلسي”، كسنيا سبتلوفا، قولها إنّ انضمام إيران إلى الاتفاق، إذا تمّ، فسيمثّل “تحوّلاً جذرياً” في طبيعة التحالف.
أما عن الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب، فـ “يستشيط غضباً”، وفقاً لسبتلوفا، بسبب عجزه عن تغيير المعادلة التي نشأت بعد الحرب
