The Secretary-General of the GCC announces that the the Council will host Yemeni-Yemeni talks, which are to be held on Riyadh. He points out that “the invitations for participation will be sent to all sides, and the talks will be held between those who are present”.

GCC Secretary-General Nāyif al-Ḥağrafī announced that Yemeni-Yemeni talks will be hosted between 29 March and 7 April in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

Al-Ḥağrafī added that the goal of these talks is “to solve the Yemeni crisis and study the future of the crisis, with the participation of all sides concerned without exception, and also a ceasefire and to end the crisis”.

The GCC Secretary-General continued that “the Yemeni-Yemeni talks aim to reach peace and stability, and 6 aspects will be discussed, including the military and political aspects”. The negotiations also aim to “manage the security matter, and open humanitarian corridors”.

Al-Ḥağrafī also pointed out that “the Yemeni negotiations are organized for the participation of all political components”, explaining that “the Gulf Cooperation Council continues to provide support to Yemen, and what we provide in not a new initiative, but a confirmation that the solution is in the hand of the Yemenis”.

He claimed that “the Gulf Cooperation Council aims to restore the stability and the security for the Yemeni people”.

Al-Ḥağrafī hoped that “all Yemeni parties will respond to the GCC initiative and take this opportunity to reach peace and stability”. Thus explaining that “the invitations for participation will be sent to all parties, and the negotiations will be held amongst those who are present”.

Ibn Ḥabtūr: The invitation is a trap by the states of aggression

Today the head of the Sanaa government ‘Abd al-‘Azīz ibn Ḥabtūr confirmed that “the first step for any dialogue is to stop the aggression” of Saudi Arabia against Yemen.

In an interview with al-Mayadeen Ibn Ḥabtūr said that “the invitation is a trap by the states of aggression, which are calling for a dialogue in the very capital, from which the aggression is launched every day”.

He also pointed out that “the Saudi invitations and initiatives are all one attempt throw sand in the eyes”. Thus pointing out that “lifting the blockade and opening the ports and airports is a condition for any dialogue with the states of aggression”.

Yesterday a reliable source in the Sana’a government confirmed “that Yemen welcomes any dialogue with the states of the Saudi Coalition in any neutral states”.

It underlined that “the priority in the dialogue will be the humanitarian matter, and lifting the blockade on the al-Ḥudayda port and Sana’a international airport”. The source said: “It is unjust and unreasonable that the hosting and inviting state to be the same as the one that leads the sinful war and blockade against the Yemeni people”.

Two days ago the Deputy Foreign Minister in the Sana’a government Ḥussayn al-‘Izzī said that “the ongoing blockade against Yemen will remain an indication for war, and thus void any credibility for any peace negotiation”.
