Russia’s permanent representative in the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya confirmed that his country will oppose the attempts to reopen the closed debates in the U.N. Security Council about the chemical matter of Syria.

Nebenzya said that: “The U.K. as the chairman of the U.N. Security Council suggests to restart this matter next February behind closed doors, or without video broadcast, and even without the participation of Syria’s representative, but we will oppose this”. This was said, according to what was reported by the SANA news agency.
He added: “By our initiatives, these sessions have become open and we don’t see we should hide from the general public”. Thus confirming that the international community has to be aware of what goes on about the chemical case of Syria. Therefore we will stress that these meetings should be public”.
On the other hand, Nebenzya called upon the new American administration to support the idea of a “five-party summit” in the Security Council, which was suggested by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Nebenzya said: “The is a new American administration and it has to answer to this initiative, which is still on the table. That is important to have direct negotiations”.

أكد مندوب روسيا الدائم لدى الأمم المتحدة فاسيلي نيبينزيا أن بلاده ستعارض محاولات العودة إلى المناقشات المغلقة في مجلس الأمن الدولي حول موضوع ملف الكيميائي في سوريا.
وقال نيبينزيا إن “المملكة المتحدة بصفتها رئيسة مجلس الأمن الدولي في شباط المقبل تقترح العودة إلى مناقشة هذا الموضوع خلف أبواب مغلقة أي دون بث عبر الفيديو وأيضا دون مشاركة ممثل سوريا لكننا سنعترض على ذلك”، وفق ما نقلت وكالة “سانا”.
وأضاف “بمبادرتنا أصبحت هذه الجلسات مفتوحة ولا نرى لماذا يجب عليهم الاختباء عن عامة المجتمع” مؤكدا ان المجتمع الدولي يجب أن يكون على معرفة بما يدور حول ملف الكيميائي في سوريا لذلك سوف نصر على أن يكون الاجتماع مفتوحا”.
من جهة أخرى دعا نيبينزيا الإدارة الأمريكية الجديدة إلى دعم فكرة عقد “القمة الخماسية” لمجلس الأمن الدولي التي طرحها الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين.
وقال نيبينزيا “لقد جاءت إدارة أمريكية جديدة ويجب أن ترد على هذه المبادرة التى لا تزال على الطاولة وهي مهمة لإجراء محادثات مباشرة
