On the first journey of its kind for years Abū Zabī Crown Prince aš-Šayh Muḥammad ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān visits Ankara to conduct negotiations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in an attempt by both countries to improve the relations.
Abū Zabī Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān arrived to Ankara on the capacity of an official visit. The Emirati news agency announced that Abū Zabī Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān visits Turkey today, on Wednesday on an official visit by the invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The Emirati News Agency said that the two sides will study the bilateral relations and the ways to improve cooperation and working together between the two countries fulfilling the mutual interests, as they will also review a set of regional and international developments and matters.

Today, on Wednesday a Turkish official said that Turkey and the Emirates will formulate agreements on the fields of energy, investments, technology, sea ports and logistics.
The Turkish official mentioned that memorandums of understanding will be signed between the Abū Zabī government owned holding company, the Turkish State Wealth Fund, the Investment Office under the Turkish Presidency and other Turkish companies.
According to the announcement published by the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Directorate the talks between the two sides will discuss the bilateral relations on all levels, and the necessary steps to improve the cooperation between the two states. The two sides will also exchange views about the present international and regional matters.
Previously the officials Emirati Press Agency announced that Āl Nahyān will take an official visit to Turkey on Wednesday during which he will study the bilateral relations and regional and international matters. On 31 August the Turkish President had a phone conversation with the Crown Prince of Abū Zabī discussing the bilateral ties and the regional matters.
In the same month the Turkish President revealed that “the Emirates wishes to make huge investments in Turkey”, pointing out that “Ankara during the last few months have held meeting with the administration of Abū Zabī”, and also that “the study addressed a roadmap connected to investments”.
It should be remembered that the Turkish President had previously threatened last year to recall the Turkish ambassador from Abū Zabī, or to suspend the diplomatic relations with the Emirates in response to the normalization agreement, which the Emirates signed with “Israel” on 15 September 2020.
The relations between the Emirates and Turkey witnessed a number of turmoils in recent times, most of them rolling around the role of the two countries in the struggle the Libyan field experienced. Both and Ankara and Abū Zabī supported different sides in the Libyan struggle, which sparked turmoils between the two parties.

وصل ولي عهد أبو ظبي، محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، إلى أنقرة، في إطار زيارة رسمية. وأعلنت وكالة أنباء الإمارات أن ولي عهد أبو ظبي محمد بن زايد يزور تركيا اليوم الأربعاء في زيارة رسمية، بدعوة من الرئيس التركي رجب طيب إردوغان
وكالة أنباء الإمارات قالت إن الطرفين سيبحثان العلاقات الثنائية وسبل تعزيز التعاون والعمل المشترك بين البلدين، بما يحقّق مصالحهما المتبادلة، كما سيتطرّقان إلى مجمل القضايا والمستجدّات الإقليمية والدولية
وقال مسؤول تركي، اليوم الأربعاء، إن تركيا والإمارات ستبرمان اتفاقات في مجالات الطاقة واستثمارات التكنولوجيا والموانئ البحرية واللوجيستيات.
وذكر المسؤول التركي أنه سيجري توقيع مذكرات تفاهم بين الشركة القابضة المملوكة لحكومة أبو ظبي وصندوق الثروة السيادي التركي ومكتب الاستثمار التابع للرئاسة التركية وشركات تركية أخرى.
وبحسب بيان نشرته دائرة الاتصال بالرئاسة التركية، فإن المحادثات بين الطرفين ستتناول العلاقات الثنائية على الأصعدة كافة، والخطوات اللازمة لتطوير التعاون بين البلدين. كما سيتبادل الجانبان وجهات النظر حول القضايا الإقليمية والدولية الحالية.
وفي وقت سابق، أعلنت وكالة الأنباء الإماراتية الرسمية أن آل نهيان سيجري زيارة رسمية إلى تركيا، الأربعاء، يبحث خلالها العلاقات الثنائية وقضايا إقليمية ودولية. وفي 31 آب/أغسطس الماضي، بحث الرئيس التركي مع ولي عهد أبو ظبي، في اتصال هاتفي، العلاقات الثنائية والقضايا الإقليمية.
وفي الشهر نفسه، كشف الرئيس التركي أنّ “الإمارات بصدد إقامة استثمارات كبيرة في تركيا“، لافتاً إلى أنّ “أنقرة عقدت خلال الأشهر الماضية لقاءات مع إدارة أبو ظبي”، وأنّ “البحث تناول خريطة الطريق المتعلقة بالاستثمارات”.
يذكر أنّ الرئيس التركي كان قد هدّد في وقت سابق من العام الماضي بسحب السفير التركي من أبو ظبي، أو تعليق العلاقات الدبلوماسية مع الإمارات، ردّاً على اتفاق التطبيع الذي وقّعته الإمارات مع “إسرائيل”، في 15 أيلول/سبتمبر 2020.
وشهدت العلاقة ما بين الإمارات وتركيا توترات عديدة، على مدى الآونة الأخيرة، تمحورت في معظمها حول دور البلدين في الصراع الذي تشهده الأراضي الليبية. ودعمت كل من أنقرة وأبو ظبي أطرافاً مختلفين في الصراع الليبي، ما زاد من احتدام التوتر بين الجانبين
