President of the BRICS group member states forum Purnima Anand reveals that China, Russia, and India discussed the topic of integrating Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia into the BRICS group in their last summit last month.
President of the BRICS states group forum Purnima Ananda that Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia may very soon join the group.
Ananda said in an interview with Izvestia: “China, Russia, and India discussed this matter during the tenth summit of the BRICS group’s presidents, which was held virtually on 23 and 24 June.
She added: “All these states showed their interest in their incorporation and are ready to hand in their request for membership. I believe this is a very good step, considering that such enlargement is always viewed positively and clearly, will increase the effect of BRICS around the world”.
Ananda expressed her hopes that the process of incorporating these states into the group will happen very fast, “because all representatives of the candidate states show interest in the expansion of the organization”.
She underlined that “incorporating Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey will go on fast”, explaining that “expansion may not happen at the same time”.
Previously Director of the International Economic Affairs at the Chinese Foreign Ministry Lee Kik Sen announced that a number of states are “knocking on the door” of the organization, among them Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Argentina.
The Iranian Tasnīm Agency had mentioned previously that Iran handed in its request to join the BRICS group, which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
It should be pointed out that the idea of the BRICS group was conceived in 2006.
It had its first summit on 16 June 2006 under the name of BRIC in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg with the participation of Brazil, Russia, India, and China at first. Later on, South Africa also joined it in 2010, thus the name of the international alliance became “BRICS”, which word is made up of the first letters of each member state.
In 2017 during the “BRICS” summit meeting in the Chinese city of Xiamen the plan of the “BRICS Plus” enlargement was discussed, as new states are being added to the “BRICS” group on a permanent basis, or taking part in a dialogue.

رئيسة المنتدى الدولي لدول مجموعة “بريكس” بورنيما أناند تكشف أنّ الصين وروسيا والهند ناقشت موضوع انضمام تركيا ومصر والسعودية إلى مجموعة بريكس خلال قمتها الأخيرة الشهر الماض
أعلنت رئيسة المنتدى الدولي لدول مجموعة “بريكس”، بورنيما أناند، أنّ تركيا ومصر والسعودية قد تنضم قريباً جداً، إلى المجموعة.
وقالت أناند في حديثٍ لصحيفة “إزفيستيا”: إنّ “الصين وروسيا والهند ناقشت هذا الموضوع، خلال قمة قادة مجموعة بريكس الرابعة عشرة، التي عُقدت بشكلٍ افتراضي في الفترة من 23 إلى 24 حزيران/ يونيو.
وأضافت: “لقد أبدت كل هذه الدول اهتمامها بالانضمام وتستعد لتقديم طلب العضوية. أعتقد أن هذه خطوة جيدة، نظراً لأنه يتم دائماً النظر بشكلٍ إيجابي إلى مثل هذا التوسع، ومن الواضح أنه سيزيد من تأثير بريكس في كل العالم”.
وأعربت أناند عن أملها في أن تتم عملية انضمام هذه الدول إلى المجموعة بشكلٍ سريعٍ جداً، “لأنّ جميع ممثلي الدول النواة للتجمع يبدون اهتماماً بتوسيع المنظمة”.
وشددت على أنّ “انضمام مصر والسعودية وتركيا، سيجري بسرعة”، موضحةً أنّ “الانضمام قد لا يتم في وقتٍ واحد”.
وفي وقت سابق، أفاد رئيس إدارة الشؤون الاقتصادية الدولية بوزارة الخارجية الصينية، لي كيكسين، بأنّ دولاً عدّة “تطرق أبواب” المنظمة ومن بينها إندونيسيا وتركيا والسعودية ومصر والأرجنتين.
وذكرت وكالة “تسنيم” الإيرانية، في وقتٍ سابق، أنّ إيران تقدّمت بطلبٍ للانضمام إلى مجموعة “بريكس”، التي تضمّ البرازيل وروسيا والهند والصين وجنوب أفريقيا.
يُشار إلى أنّ مجموعة “بريكس” أبصرت فكرتها النور في عام 2006.
وعقدت أول قمة لها في يوم 16 حزيران/يونيو 2009، تحت اسم “بريك”، في مدينة يكاترينبورغ الروسية، بمشاركة كل من: البرازيل وروسيا والهند والصين أولاً، ثم انضمّت إليها لاحقاً جنوب أفريقيا في عام 2010، ليصبح اسم التحالف الدولي “بريكس”، وهي كلمة مشكلة ومشتقة من الحروف الأولى من اسم كل دولة عضو.
وفي عام 2017، وخلال عقد قمة “بريكس” في مدينة شيامين الصينية، تم الحديث عن خطة “بريكس بلس BRICS plus” التوسعية، إذ تتم إضافة دول جديدة إلى مجموعة “بريكس” كضيفة بصورة دائمة، أو مشاركة في الحوار
