On Wednesday President of the Transitional Period in Syria Aḥmad aš-Šar‘a discussed the security situation, the regional challenges, the enhancement of the economic partnerships and the support for the development efforts in both countries with his Emirati counterpart Muḥammad ibn Zāyid.
In a statement the Syrian presidential office mentioned that aš-Šar‘a with his Emirati colleague discussed “the cooperation relations contributing to achieving the common interests”, parallel with the two countries addressing the current regional developments, confirming “the importance of coordination of efforts to preserve the regional security”.
Aš-Šar‘a confirmed “the solidarity of Syria with the Emirates and rejecting any behaviors that would violate its sovereignty, security and independence”, according to his words, especially in light of the current tensions in the region.
The Emirates: the third stop of aš-Šar‘a’s Gulf trip
On its behalf the Emirati News Agency mentioned that Ibn Zāyid and aš-Šar‘a confirmed “their mutual dedication to continue pushing ahead the track of Emirati-Syrian relations to enable achieving the expectations of both countries for more future development and construction for the benefit of their people”.
This came during a meeting in Abū Zabī attended also by Syrian Foreign Minister As‘ad aš-Šaybānī and his Emirati colleague ‘Abd Allah ibn Zāyid.
Earlier on Thursday aš-Šar‘a started his visit to the Emirates, being the third stop of his Gulf journey that had started in Saudi Arabia, where with Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Salmān discussed the strengthening of efforts for economic cooperation and projects for regional connectivity. After that he continued his visits to Qatar on Wednesday.

بحث رئيس المرحلة الانتقالية في سوريا أحمد الشرع ونظيره الإماراتي محمد بن زايد، أمس الأربعاء، الأوضاع الأمنية والتحديات الإقليمية وتعزيز الشراكات الاقتصادية ودعم جهود التنمية في البلدين.
وذكرت الرئاسة السورية في بيان، أن الشرع بحث مع نظيره الإماراتي “علاقات التعاون بما يسهم في تحقيق المصالح المشتركة”، بالتوازي مع تناول البلدَين تطورات الأوضاع الحالية، مؤكدين على “أهمية تنسيق الجهود للحفاظ على الأمن الإقليمي
وأكد الشرع “تضامن سوريا مع الإمارات ورفض أي ممارسات تمس سيادتها وأمنها واستقرارها”، على حد قوله، لا سيما في ضوء التوترات الحالية في المنطقة.
الإمارات: ثالث محطات جولة الشرع الخليجية
من جانبها، ذكرت وكالة الأنباء الإماراتية، أن ابن زايد والشرع أكدا “حرصهما المتبادل على مواصلة دفع مسار العلاقات الإماراتية- السورية بما يسهم في تحقيق تطلعات البلدين نحو التنمية وبناء مستقبل أكثر تقدماً ونماء لشعبيهما”.
وجاء ذلك خلال لقاء في أبو ظبي، حضره أيضاً وزير الخارجية السوري أسعد الشيباني ونظيره الإماراتي عبد الله بن زايد.
وفي وقت سابق أمس، بدأ الشرع، زيارة إلى الإمارات، ثالث محطات جولته الخليجية التي بدأها بالسعودية حيث بحث مع ولي العهد محمد بن سلمان تعزيز التعاون الاقتصادي ومشاريع الربط الإقليمي، ومن ثم انطلقت زيارته إلى قطر الأربعاء
