Maḥmūd Rif‘at in tweet said that a trusted source from within Saudi Arabia told him that the arrest of the princes happened, because of an information said to be “lying” passed on from Muḥammad ibn Zāyid to Muḥammad ibn Salmān, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. It contained that “his security services obtained phone calls by the arrestees with ambassadors of European states within Saudi Arabia to sideline him from the power”!
The Saudi authorities on Saturday dawn arrested three people form the leading emirs of the royal family for reason unknown until now.
The American newspapers said that the three arrestees are Aḥmad ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azīz, the younger brother of the Saudi King, former Saudi Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Nāyif, and Emir Nawāf ibn Nāyif.

كشف الدكتور محمود رفعت، المحامي المعروف وخبير القانون الدولي، عن وقوف أبوظبي وراء اعتقال الأمير أحمد بن عبدالعزيز شقيق الملك سلمان، والأمير محمد بن نايف ابن شقيق الملك سلمان
وقال محمود رفعت في تغريدة ، إن مصدرا موثوقا من داخل السعودية أبلغه أن اعتقال الأمراء جاء بسبب أخبار قال إنها “ملفقة” مررها محمد بن زايد إلى محمد بن سلمان ولي عهد السعودية، مفادها ” أن أجهزته الأمنية رصدت اتصالات للمعتقلين مع سفراء دول أوروبية في السعودية بهدف إزاحته من الحكم
واعتقلت السلطات السعودية، فجر السبت، ثلاثة من كبار أمراء العائلة المالكة، لأسباب غير معلنة حتى الآن
وقالت الصحف الأمريكية إن المعتقلين الثلاثة هم أحمد بن عبد العزيز، الشقيق الأصغر للملك السعودي، وولي العهد السعودي السابق محمد بن نايف، والأمير نواف بن نايف
