The meeting of the delegates and high dignitaries in Jidda is held on Tuesday with the participation of Syria’s delegation. These are the continued preliminary meetings for the works of the upcoming Arab League summit.
Within the continued preliminary meetings for the works of the Arab League Summit on Tuesday, a meeting was held in Jidda between the delegates and high representatives with the participation of Syria’s delegation led by Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Ayman Sūsān.
While taking over the chair of the meeting between the delegates and high representatives Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador ‘Abd ar-Raḥmān Ibrāhīm ar-Rassī welcomed the participating delegation of Syria at the meeting and wished success for it confirming that “Saudi Arabia extended its arm to its brethren believing in the importance of the joint common Arab efforts and that it will continue to work to continue fulfilling the path of the Arab League”.
On his behalf, the permanent representative of the Sultanate of Oman at the Arab League Ambassador ‘Abd Allah ibn Nāṣir ar-Raḥbī has confirmed that Syria’s return to the meetings of the Arab League is the main title at the summit and its presence will give strength to the Arab solidarity that is promoted by the Sultanate of Oman.
On his behalf, the permanent representative of the Comore Islands at the Arab League ‘Aṭā’ Afāndī believed that the presence of Syria “bare a huge importance in this summit to the path of the joint Arab efforts as it has a general benefit for all Arab states”.
Syrian Foreign Minister Fayṣal al-Miqdād arrived at the King ‘Abd al-‘Azīz airport on Monday with a high-level delegation to take part in the preparatory meetings of the Arab League Summit scheduled to be held on 19 May.
Before that, a major Syrian business delegation arrived in Jidda on Sunday led by Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Muḥammad Sāmir Halīl, in order to participate in the works of the high dignitaries of the economic and social sessions in preparation for the works of the scheduled Arab League Summit.
A few days ago Syrian President Baššār al-Asad received an invitation from Saudi King Salmān ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azīz to participate in the 32nd session of the Arab League Summit in Jidda.
The Arab League had announced on 7 May that it agreed to the reinstatement of Syria’s seat at the works of the League after its membership had been suspended for 12 years following the war the country had been witnessing.

اجتماع المندوبين وكبار المسؤولين في جدة انعقد اليوم بمشاركة وفد سوريا، وذلك استمراراً للاجتماعات التحضيرية لأعمال القمة العربية المرتقبة
استمراراً للاجتماعات التحضيرية لأعمال القمة العربية، انعقد اليوم في جدة اجتماع المندوبين وكبار المسؤولين بمشاركة وفد سوريا يترأسه معاون وزير الخارجية أيمن سوسان.
وخلال تسلّمه رئاسة اجتماع المندوبين وكبار المسؤولين، رحّب وكيل وزارة الخارجية السعودية، السفير عبد الرحمن إبراهيم الرسي، بوفد سوريا المشارك بالاجتماع وتمنى لهم كل النجاح، مؤكداً أن “السعودية مدّت يدها إلى الأشقاء إيماناً بأهمية العمل العربي المشترك وستواصل العمل لمتابعة هذا الأمر ولاستكمال مسيرة الجامعة العربية”.
بدوره، أكد مندوب سلطنة عمان الدائم لدى جامعة الدول العربية، السفير عبد الله بن ناصر الرحبي، أنّ عودة سوريا إلى اجتماعات الجامعة هو العنوان الأبرز في القمّة، ووجودها سيعطي قوة للتضامن العربي الذي تنشده سلطنة عمان.
من جهته، رأى مندوب جزر القمر الدائم في الجامعة العربية، عطاء افندي، أنّ الحضور السوري “يحمل أهمية كبيرة في هذه القمة على مسيرة العمل العربي المشترك، لما له فائدة عامة على كافة الدول العربية”.
وكان وزير الخارجية السوري فيصل المقداد، قد وصل إلى مطار الملك عبد العزيز الدولي يوم أمس، ضمن وفد رفيع المستوى، للمشاركة في الاجتماعات التحضيرية للقمة العربية المقرر إقامتها في الـ19 من أيار الجاري.
وسبقه إلى جدة وفد اقتصادي سوري كبير، الأحد، برئاسة وزير الاقتصاد والتجارة الخارجية، محمد سامر خليل، من أجل المشاركة في أعمال كبار المسؤولين للمجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي التحضيري، لأعمال القمة العربية المرتقبة.
وقبل أيام، تلقى الرئيس السوري، بشار الأسد، دعوة من الملك السعودي، سلمان بن عبد العزيز، من أجل المشاركة في الدورة الـ32 لاجتماع مجلس جامعة الدول العربية على مستوى القمة في جدّة.
وكانت جامعة الدول العربية أعلنت، في 7 أيار/مايو الجاري، موافقتها على عودة سوريا إلى شغل مقعدها في الجامعة، بعد تعليق عضويتها، في أعقاب الحرب التي شهدتها البلاد على مدى 12 عاماً
