The al-Bū Kamāl – al-Qā’im border crossing opens between the Syrian and the Iraqi border under the supervision of the Iraqi Prime Minister, ‘Ādil ‘Abd al-Mahdī and a number of ministers and dignitaries, 5 years after it was closed, because Dā‘iš took control of it, before it became liberated by the Iraqi forces.
The recurring American drone attack did not succeed to disturb the return of life to the al-Bū Kamāl al-Qā’im crossing between Syria and Iraq, where its reopening was celebrated today, this Monday, after five years of its closure.
Reporter of al-Mayadeen said Syrian and Iraqi soldiers gathered together for memorial photos at the al-Qā’im – al-Bū Kamāl crossing.
The same way the reporter of al-Mayadeen in Syria, Muḥammad al-Huḍr met with director al-Mayadeen’s Iraqi office, ‘Abd Allah Badrān at the crossing.
Badrān was talking about the opening of the crossing and said that crossing will be opened by the Iraqi Prime Minister, ‘Ādil ‘Abd al-Mahdī with a number of ministers in the presence of Border Control Agency’s principal, the Syrian ambassador to Baghdad, a number of dignitaries from the Iraqi Foreign and Trade Ministries.
With regards to the delay in the opening, ‘Abd Allah clarified that the delay was caused by the finish of logistical preparations, and after a political decision the reconstruction was started, especially that it was close for more than 5 years after Dā‘iš took control of the city of Mosul in Northern Iraq. It reached out with its control to the Syrian-Iraqi border, and work was completely halted by the organization’s control.
He continued that after the finish of the liberation operations the reconstruction took long time, knowing that this is not the only crossing, and there are number of other crossings.

افتتاح معبر البوكمال بين الحدود العراقية السورية برعاية رئيس الوزراء العراقي عادل عبد المهدي وعدد من الوزراء والمسؤولين، بعد إقفاله لـ 5 سنوات بسبب سيطرة داعش عليه قبل تحريره من قبل القوات العراقية
لم تفلح الهجمات الأميركية المتكررة بالطائرات المسيّرة في عرقلة إعادة الحياة إلى معبر البوكمال القائم بين سوريا والعراق حيث أعيد افتتاحه اليوم الإثنين بعد خمس سنوات على إغلاقه
مراسل الميادين قال إن الجنود السوريين والعراقيين التقطوا الصور التذكارية سوياً عند معبر القائم – البوكمال
كذلك التقى مراسل الميادين في سوريا الزميل محمد الخضر مع مدير مكتب الميادين في العراق الزميل عبدالله بدران عند المعبر
الزميل بدران تحدث عن افتتاح المعبر، وقال إن المعبر سيفتتحه رئيس الوزراء العراقي عادل عبد المهدي وعدد من الوزراء، بحضور مدير هيئة المنافذ الحدودية، والسفير السوري في بغداد، وعدد من المسؤولين في وزارة الخارجية العراقية، ووزارة التجارة العراقية
وعن أسباب تأخر افتتاح المعبر، أوضح الزميل عبدالله أنه تأخر بسبب استكمال الاستعددات اللوجستية، وبعد اتخاذ القرار السياسي تمَ البدء بتأهيله خاصة أنه كان مغلقاً منذ أكثر من 5 سنوات بعد سيطرة تنظيم داعش على مدينة الموصل شمال العراق، وتمدده إلى الحدود العراقية السورية، وتوقف العمل فيه نهائياً خلال سيطرة التنظيم
وتابع، أنه بعد استكمال عملية التحرير أخذ تأهيل المعبر وقتاً طويلاً، علماً أنه ليس المعبر الوحيد مع الحدود السورية، حيث يوجد عدة معابر
