Commander of the Russian Forces in Syria Aleksander Chaiko visits al-Ḥasaka province in the Northeast of the country and meets with the leader of the “Qasad” militia Maẓlūm ‘Abdī.
Special sources of the al-Mayadeen reported that Commander of the Russian forces in Syria Alek Chaiko on Sunday visited al-Ḥasaka province in the Northeast of the country and meets with the leader of the “Syrian Democratic Forces (Qasad)” militia Maẓlūm ‘Abdī.
Sources of al-Mayadeen mentioned that the meeting “discussed the Turkish threats to launch a land operation and what measures to take to prevent the operation to happen”, thus confirming that Chaiko “once again reiterated the idea to deploy the Syrian Army all along the border in a depth of 30 kilometers”.
The visits happened in the context of the major turmoil witnessed at the border area between Syria and Türkiye recently by Turkish areal and artillery bombardments against the positions of the Qasad organization and missile barrages against Turkish villages at the border. All that after Türkiye accused this organization to be linked to the recent bombing in Istanbul.
Chaiko met with ‘Abdī in 2020 to study the cooperation with the Turkish side regarding the airstrikes against the Kurdish positions.
Previously on Sunday Kremlin spokesman Dimitry Peskov said that there are differences between Russia and Turkey about the situation in Syria, but “the level of our relations and our political wisdom allows us to solve these differences. Not by confrontation, but by sometimes hard and long negotiations. Yet still through negotiations”.
The Kremlin also warned Turkey not to “undermine the stability” in Northern Syria, as Ankara launched a number of airstrikes against the Kurdish fighters and warned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan against the possibility of launching a land attack on Syrian soil.
On his behalf, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Sunday confirmed that “the result of the Turkish military operations in Northern Iraq and Syria will be successful”.
He pointed out that “during the harsh winter conditions there is an important struggle at az-Zāyid region in Northern Iraq and Syria”, adding that “the result of this struggle will be decisive for the benefit of Türkiye”.
Two days before Erdoğan had confirmed that his aim with the military operation in Northern Iraq and Syria is to set up “a security corridor from West to East” all along the southern border of the country at the soonest time possible”.
The Turkish President also explained that “the military operation in Northern Iraq and Syria will not remain limited to areal operations which have been carried out until now”, foreshadowing that there will be debates about the participation of the land forces”.

أفادت مصادر خاصة للميادين أنّ قائد القوات الروسية في سوريا ألكسندر تشايكو زار، اليوم الأحد، محافظة الحسكة شمالي شرقي البلاد، والتقى زعيم ميليشيا “قوات سوريا الديمقراطية” (قسد) مظلوم عبدي
وذكرت مصادر الميادين أنّ اللقاء “بحث التهديدات التركية بشنّ عملية برية وسبل اتخاذ إجراءات تمنع وقوع العملية”، مؤكّدةً أنّ تشايكو “أعاد طرح فكرة انتشار الجيش السوري على امتداد الشريط الحدودي وبعمق 30 كلم
وتأتي الزيارة في ظلّ التوتر الكبير الذي تشهده المنطقة الحدودية بين سوريا وتركيا مؤخراً من خلال القصف الجوي والمدفعي التركي على مواقع تنظيم قسد والقصف الصاروخي المقابل على قرى تركية حدودية، بعد اتهام أنقرة للتنظيم بعلاقته بتفجير اسطنبول الأخير
وكان تشايكو التقى عبدي عام 2020 لبحث التنسيق مع الطرف التركي بشأن غارات على موقع كردي.
وفي وقت سابق اليوم، قال المتحدث باسم الكرملين دميتري بيسكوف إنّ هناك خلافات بين روسيا وتركيا بشأن الوضع في سوريا، لكنّ “مستوى علاقاتنا وحكمتنا السياسية يسمحان لنا بحل هذه الخلافات، ليس من خلال المواجهة، بل من خلال المفاوضات الصعبة والطويلة أحياناً، ولكن مع ذلك بالمفاوضات”.
كما حذّر الكرملين تركيا من “زعزعة الاستقرار” شمالي سوريا، حيث شنّت أنقرة عدة غارات جوية على مقاتلين كرد، غداة طرح الرئيس التركي رجب طيب إردوغان احتمال إطلاق عملية برية في الأراضي السورية.
من جهته، أكد الرئيس التركي رجب طيب إردوغان، الأحد، أنّ “نتيجة العمليات العسكرية التركية في شمال العراق وسوريا ستكون ناجحة”.
وأشار إلى أنّه “في ظروف الشتاء الصعبة، يجري صراع مهم في كل من منطقة الزاب شمالي العراق وفي شمال سوريا”، معقباً بأنّ “نتيجة هذا الصراع ستكون مواتية لصالح تركيا”.
ومنذ يومين، أكد إردوغان أنّ هدفه من العملية العسكرية في شمالي سوريا والعراق هو إقامة “حزام أمني من الغرب إلى الشرق” على طول الحدود الجنوبية للبلاد في أقرب وقت ممكن”.
كما أوضح الرئيس التركي أنّ “العملية العسكرية في شمال العراق وسوريا لن تبقى محدودة بالعملية الجوية وما تمّ تنفيذه حتى الآن”، مبيناً أنّه ستجري مناقشات بشأن مشاركة قوات برية
