Deputy President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan Muḥammad Ḥamdān Daqalū expresses the readiness of his country to set up Russian military bases on the Red Sea, as long as “they present no security threat to Sudan”.
Deputy President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan Muḥammad Ḥamdān Daqalū (Ḥamīdtī) said that there is no problem with Russia or any other states setting up military bases on the Red Sea, if that serves the interests of Sudan and present no threat to its national security.
Ḥamīdtī in a press conference held at Khartoum airport following his return from Moscow pointed out the matter of the Russian military base in Sudan “as the concern of the Defense Minister”, to which he has nothing to do with.
He continued: “If there is an interest for Sudan and its people in setting up a base, and benefits the eastern part of the country, there is no objection”.
He said: “We have a 730 kilometers along the Red Sea. If any country wants to set up a military base and we have interest in it, it does not threaten our national security, than we have no problem do deal with that country, or even Russia”. Thus pointing out the presence of a lot of military bases in African countries, like Djibouti, Niger or others.
Ḥamīdtī on Wednesday had called for a dialogue between Russia and Ukraine to reach a ceasefire “the soonest possible time”. Pointing out that “the world now might suffer from the economic sanctions against Russia, as it is a double edged weapon”.

نائب رئيس مجلس السيادة الانتقالي في السودان محمد حمدان دقلو يبدي استعداد بلاده لإقامة قواعد بحرية عسكرية روسية على البحر الأحمر، ما دامت “لا تهدد الأمن السوداني
قال نائب رئيس مجلس السيادة الانتقالي في السودان، محمد حمدان دقلو (حميدتي)، أنْ لا مشكلة في إقامة روسيا أو غيرها من الدول قواعد عسكرية على البحر الأحمر، إذا كانت تحقق مصلحة السودان، ولا تهدد أمنه القومي.
وأشار حميدتي في مؤتمر صحافي عقده في مطار الخرطوم، عقب عودته من موسكو، إلى أنّ ملف القاعدة الروسية في السودان “من اختصاص وزير الدفاع”، ولا علاقة له به.
وتابع: “إذا كانت هناك مصلحة للسودان وشعبه بإقامة القاعدة، وفائدة لإقليم شرق البلاد، فلا توجد موانع”.
وقال: “لدينا 730 كيلومتراً على البحر الأحمر. لو أرادت أي دولة أن تقيم قاعدة عسكرية، ولدينا معها مصلحة، ولا تهدد أمننا القومي، فليست لدينا مشكلة في أن نتعامل معها أو مع روسيا “، مشيراً إلى وجود الكثير من القواعد العسكرية في الدول الأفريقية، مثل جيبوتي والنيجر وغيرهما.
وكان حميدتي دعا، أمس الأربعاء، إلى الحوار بين روسيا وأوكرانيا للتوصل إلى وقف إطلاق نار “في أقرب وقت ممكن”، مشيراً إلى أنّ “العالم الآن يمكن أن يتضرر من العقوبات الاقتصادية على روسيا، لأنّها سلاح ذو حدين
