A source for al-Mayadeen said talked said that the living quarters and the military barracks in the American base at at-Tanaf suffered a missile bombardment, which caused damages and fires breaking out.
Sources on the ground confirmed to al-Mayadeen that the at-Tanaf Base, in which there are American and British troops suffered a missile barrage, which led to material damage without information on losses or injuries amongst the ranks of the coalition troops present in the area.
According to the sources the area witnessed areal movement by drones at the time of the missile bombardment without any detail about their role in the bombardment.
According to what has been provided by the same source the base experienced a state of panic amongst the ranks of the International Coalition’s troops present in the area while an operation of deployment started fearing yet another bombardment.
The source revealed that coalition troops and the troops of the Syrian armed factions were spread out around the base, while a number of machines were withdrawn from there to prevent any human or material damage.
In the at-Tanaf base some 200 American soldiers are present, in addition to a number of British soldiers.
An official of the American Central Command issued a statement to certain media outlets that the base suffered a missile attack, saying that there were no casualties in the Coalition ranks and according to his expression the damages were material.
On his behalf the oppositional Syrian Observer talked about explosions heard in the American military base at the border between Syria, Jordan and Iraq.
In the same context a special source of the Russian “Sputnik” agency said that fires broke out within the base, and also in a position near by to the base, which is run by armed men belonging to the American army. Explosions were heard clearly in the depth of the Syrian desert.
Military analyst Muḥammad Kamāl al-Ğafā pointed out through al-Mayadeen that this is the first time the American base suffers an attack and that the targeting of the American forces there aimed to thwart the occupation”.
Brigadier General Muḥammad ‘Abbās confirmed that “the terrorist attack, which launched an aggression against the Syrian forces originated from around this base”.
The Syrian desert is an open barren field open wedged into it an area of 55 kilometers wide, which so far presented a scene of major infiltration activities by the “Dā‘iš” organization.
This 55 kilometers wide area falls under the protection of the American warplanes around the at-Tanaf base, which the American forces took over at the Syrian-Jordanian-Iraqi border, as a base for its own troops and for certain armed groups.
A communications tower and some positions around it at the area of Palmyra in rural Ḥimṣ suffered an Israeli areal bombardment on the night of Wednesday last week, which was launched from the area of at-Tanaf, according to what was announced by a military source that time.

مصادر الميادين تتحدث عن تعرّض مساكن الجنود والثكنات العسكرية في القاعدة الأميركية في التنف لقصف صاروخي ما تسبّب في دمار واشتعال النيران
أكدت مصادر ميدانية للميادين أن قاعدة التنف التي توجد فيها قوات أميركية وبريطانية تعرضت لقصف صاروخي ما أدى إلى أضرار مادية، من دون معلومات عن خسائر أو إصابات في صفوف عناصر التحالف الموجودين في المنطقة.
وبحسب المصادر، فإن المنطقة شهدت تحليقاً لطائرات مسيّرة بالتزامن مع القصف الصاروخي، من دون أي تفاصيل عن مشاركتها في القصف.
وشهدت القاعدة حالة إرباك في صفوف عناصر التحالف الدولي الموجودين في المنطقة، مع تنفيذ عملية إعادة انتشار تخوفاً من موجة قصف جديدة، بحسب ما أوردت المصادر المذكورة

وكان مسؤول عسكري في القيادة الوسطى الأميركية قد أقرّ في تصريحاته لبعض وسائل الإعلام بتعرّض القاعدة لقصف صاروخي، قائلاً إنه لا إصابات في صفوف عناصر التحالف، وإن الأضرار مادية، بحسب تعبيره
من جهته، تحدث المرصد السوري المعارض عن سماع دوي انفجارات في القاعدة العسكرية الأميركية، عند الحدود بين سوريا والأردن والعراق
وفي السياق نفسه، قالت مصادر خاصة لوكالة “سبوتنيك” الروسية إنّ نيراناً اندلعت داخل القاعدة، كما في أحد المواقع القريبة من القاعدة، والتي يشغلها مسلحون موالون للجيش الأميركي، فيما سُمعت أصوات الانفجارات بوضوح في عمق البادية السوري
الباحث في الشؤون العسكرية محمد كمال الجفا لفت عبر الميادين إلى أنها المرة الأولى التي تتعرّض فيها القاعدة الأميركية لهجوم، وأن استهداف القوات الأميركية فيها هدفه ردع الاحتلال”
أمّا العميد محمد عباس فأكد أن “العمليات الإرهابية التي انطلقت للاعتداء على القوات السورية انطلقت من محيط هذه القاعدة”.
