In a time when the media report speaks about Emirati intentions to enter “Israel” into the Yemeni island of Socotra on the Indian Ocean the city of Zinğibār in Abyān [province] witnesses protests refusing the Israeli presence in Yemeni soil.

The protestors chanted slogans condemning the Israeli presence in the island of Socotra, and they also raised the Palestinian flag supporting the rights of the Palestinian people for a state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The protestors stressed that whoever comes to Socotra with “Israel” will come to ‘Adan, to Zinğibār, and to all Yemeni lands.
It should be mentioned that a number of marches took the streets of southern cities of ‘Adan and al-Maḥfūd in addition to the previous protests refusing the “Emirati-Israeli agreement”, which was announced by American President Donald Trump.
A few days ago media reports talking about Yemeni tribal warnings talked about the intention of the Emirates to bring “Israel” into the island of Socotra on the Indian Ocean, right next to the southern Yemeni coast.
The American “South Front” page revealed that intention by the Emirates and “Israel” to set up a military and intelligence post on the island.
The page cited Arabic ad French sources that “a delegation including Emirati and Israeli officers have lately visited the island and examined many places wit the aim to set up an intelligence post”.
Also, the “J Forum” page for the French-speaking Jewish diaspora brought Yemeni sources saying that “Israel” and the Emirates are getting ready to set up intelligence bases to collect all information in all corners of the gulf of ‘Adan from Bab al-Mandab to the island of Socotra.
Socotra is an archipelago on the Indian Ocean named after the largest island there. Socotra is 350 kilometers away from South Yemen and some 250 kilometers east of Somalia. The land is under Yemeni sovereignty and the main islands area is 3650 square kilometers. The rest of the islands are small and some of them are uninhabited. In 2008 the archipelago was announced as a world heritage site.
July this year the forces of the Yemeni “Southern Transitional Council” supported by the Emirates announced its control over the base of the special forces, the second biggest military base and the last center of the forces of Hādī and the “al-Iṣlāḥ” in the city of Ḥudaybū in the center of Socotra island.

ورفع المتظاهرون شعارات تندد بالوجود الإسرائيلي في جزيرة سقطرى، كما رفعوا الأعلام الفلسطينية مؤيدين لحق الشعب الفلسطيني في دولة عاصمتها القدس الشريف
كما شدد المتظاهرون على أن من أتى بـ”إسرائيل” إلى سقطرى، سيأتي بها إلى عدن وزنجبار وكل الأراضي اليمنية
يذكر أن العديد من المسيرات جالت طرقات المدن الجنوبية في عدن والمحفد، إضافة إلى تظاهرة سابقة في زنجبار تندد بـ”الاتفاق الإماراتي الإسرائيلي” الذي أعلنه الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب
ومنذ أيام، تقاطعت تقارير إعلامية مترافقة مع تحذيرات قبلية يمنية من سعي الإمارات إلى إدخال “إسرائيل” إلى جزيرة سقطرى في المحيط الهندي قبالة السواحل الجنوبية لليمن
وكشف موقع “ساوث فرونت” الأميركي عن عزم الإمارات و”إسرائيل” على إنشاء مرافق عسكرية واستخبارية في الجزيرة
ونقل الموقع عن مصادر عربية وفرنسية أن “وفداً ضم ضباطاً إماراتيين وإسرائيليين زاروا الجزيرة مؤخراً، وفحصوا عدة مواقع بهدف إنشاء مرافق استخبارية
كذلك، نقل موقع “جي فوروم” للجالية اليهودية الناطقة بالفرنسية، عن مصادر يمنية، قولها إن “إسرائيل” والإمارات تقومان بالاستعدادات لإنشاء قواعد استخبارية لجمع المعلومات في جميع أنحاء خليج عدن، من باب المندب وحتى جزيرة سقطرى
وسقطرى هي مجموعة صغيرة من الجزر في المحيط الهندي سميت على اسم الجزيرة الكبيرة الموجودة هناك. تقع سقطرى على بعد 350 كيلومتراً جنوب اليمن وحوالى 250 كيلومتراً شرق الصومال. الجزر أرض خاضعة للسيادة اليمنية. تبلغ مساحة الجزيرة الرئيسية 3650 كيلومتراً مربعاً، والباقي صغير، وبعضها غير مأهول. في العام 2008، تم إعلان الأرخبيل كموقع للتراث العالمي
وفي حزيران/ يونيو الماضي، أعلنت قوات “المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي” اليمنية المدعومة إماراتياً السيطرة على معسكر القوات الخاصة، ثاني أكبر القواعد العسكرية، وآخر معاقل قوات هادي و”الإصلاح” في مدينة حديبو مركز جزيرة سقطرى.
