The Public Relations Department of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced destroying not less than one E-3 type plane, known as AWACS that is providing complete air reconnaissance, control and guidance capabilities at the al-Harağ air base in Saudi Arabia.
What are the specifics of an AWACS plane?
An AWACS plane is operating at an altitude of more than 17 kilometers above ground level and its radars are emitting electromagnetic waves that can extend to and monitor large areas on the ground reaching up to 310.000 square kilometers and follow any targets within.
During their flight these planes can follow any flying objects even on low altitudes and any planes flying on mid level, or high altitudes due to it capability of being able to be loaded with fuel in the air, while its capabilities can distinguish between friendly and enemy targets.
The radar and informations processing systems at the E-3 Sentry planes can collect and display comprehensive and detailed data on the information pane. These include informations detailing the positions and beckons of enemy planes and ships and the positions and situations of the planes and vessels of the friendly forces. It can even send these informations to the main headquarters and control centers in the hinterland, or to the ships. In times of crises it can also send these data to the President, or the War Secretary.
The price of just one AWACS is €700 million and is operated by a crew of 17 people, 4 of them are the pilots.
It’s speed reaches 800 km/h and its range up to 11000 kilometers, while it can stay in air for 10 hours constant.

أعلنت العلاقات العامة في حرس الثورة الإيراني تدمير ما لا يقل عن طائرة واحدة من طراز E-3 المعروفة بـ”أواكس”، والمزوّدة بقدرات الاستطلاع والقيادة والسيطرة الجوية في قاعدة الخرج في السعودية بشكل كامل.
ما مميزات طائرة أواكس؟
تعمل طائرات أواكس على ارتفاع لا يتجاوز 17 كلم من سطح الأرض، ويصدر رادارها موجات كهرومغناطيسية تستطيع مسح ومراقبة مساحة واسعة من الأرض تصل إلى 310000 كلم مربع ورصد أي أهداف عليها
وخلال تحليقها، يمكن لهذه الطائرات رصد أي أجسام تطير على ارتفاعات منخفضة، والطائرات المحلقة على ارتفاعات متوسطة ومرتفعة، فضلاً عن إمكانية تزودها بالوقود في الجو، وقدرتها على التمييز بين الأهداف الصديقة والمعادية.
تستطيع أنظمة الرادار والحاسوب الفرعية في طائرة E-3 Sentry جمع وعرض معلومات شاملة ومفصلة عن ساحة المعركة. يشمل ذلك معلومات تحديد مواقع وتتبع طائرات وسفن العدو، وموقع وحالة طائرات وسفن القوات الصديقة. ويمكن إرسال هذه المعلومات إلى مراكز القيادة والسيطرة الرئيسية في المناطق الخلفية أو على متن السفن. وفي أوقات الأزمات، يمكن أيضًا إرسال هذه البيانات إلى الرئيس ووزير الدفاع.
