Telephone conversation between Syrian President Baššār al-Asad and Jordanian king ‘Abd Allah II. which focused on the relations between the two countries. And the ways to improve the cooperation between them.
According to what was reported by the Royal Court in a statement today, on Sunday, Jordanian king ‘Abd Allah II. received a phone call from Syrian President Baššār al-Asad. This is the first time since the beginning of the war in Syrian in 2011.
The Royal Court added that the call focused on “addressing the relations between the two brotherly countries and the ways to improve the relations between them”
It continued that during the conversation Jordanian king ‘Abd Allah II. confirmed “the support of Jordan to the efforts to preserve the sovereignty of Syria, its stability and its territorial and social unity”.
On its own behalf the Syrian presidential office announced that “President al-Asad held a phone call with Jordanian king ‘Abd Allah II. during which the bilateral relations were studied and the strengthening of the mutual cooperation serving the interest of the brotherly countries and peoples”.
Last Wednesday saw the reopening of the Ğābir border crossing between Jordan and Syria both ways.
A week prior a Syrian ministerial delegation visited the Jordanian capital Amman to activate the mutual cooperation between the two countries. Thus the Syrian ministers of water resources, agriculture, electricity and economy arrived to Jordan thought the Naṣīb-Ğābir border crossing to hold meetings with their Jordanian counterparts with the aim to discuss the matters of energy, water [management] and transportation.

اتصال هاتفي بين الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد والملك الأردني عبد الله الثاني، تناول العلاقات بين البلدين وسبل تطوير التعاون بينهما.
تلقّى الملك الأردني عبد الله الثاني، اليوم الأحد، اتصالاً هاتفياً من الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد، هو الأول منذ اندلاع الحرب في سوريا عام 2011، على ما أفاد الديوان الملكي في بيانٍ صادر عنه.
وأضاف بيان الديوان الملكي أن الاتصال “تناول العلاقات بين البلدين الشقيقين وسبل تعزيز التعاون بينهما”.
وتابع أن الملك الأردني عبد الله الثاني أكّد خلال الاتصال “دعم الأردن لجهود الحفاظ على سيادة سوريا واستقرارها ووحدة أراضيها وشعبها”.
من جهتها، أعلنت الرئاسة السورية أن “الرئيس الأسد أجرى اتصالاً هاتفياً مع الملك الأردني عبد الله الثاني، تم خلاله بحث العلاقات الثنائية وتعزيز التعاون المشترك، لما فيه مصلحة البلدين والشعبين الشقيقين”.
وشهد يوم الأربعاء الماضي إعادةً لفتح معبرِ جابر الحدودي بين الأردن وسوريا في الاتجاهين.
وقبل أسبوعٍ، زار وفد وزاري سوري العاصمة الأردنية عمّان، لتفعيل التعاون الثنائي بين البلدين، حيث وصل وزراء الموارد المائية والزراعة والكهرباء والاقتصاد السوريون إلى الأردن، عبر معبر نصيب – جابر الحدودي، لعقد لقاءاتٍ مع نظرائهم الأردنيين بهدف مناقشة ملفات الطاقة والمياه والنقل
