Iranian Foreign Minister Muḥammad Ğavād Ẓarīf discussed the matter of prisoners exchange between his country and the United States, denying that there would be any negotiations with them.
Today, on Tuesday Iranian Foreign Minister Muḥammad Ğavād Ẓarīf said: “Currently there are no negotiations with the Americans”.
Ẓarīf added that “the American has proven that they cannot be trusted, and they have to change their behavior rather than making up excuses”.
Ẓarīf has announced on Monday night his country’s readiness for prisoners exchange with the United States, which comes at the sidelines of the meeting at the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Parliament. He said: “previously I have announced during 2018 in New York that Iran is ready to exchange the two remaining Iranian prisoners in American, or other counties prisons under American pressure for all American prisoners”.
Ẓarīf clarified that “these were our announcements than, but the American hasn’t responded to them”.
On his own term spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry ‘Abbās Mūsavī demanded from Washington to release the Iranian hostages, stressing the “necessity for the United States to deal with them with responsibility, instead of vitriolic statements”.
Mūsavī in a tweet of his said that “the Foreign Minister of his country put on the table the matter of mutual prisoners exchange two years ago, which refutes the claiming of Washington about the prisoners exchange”.
On his own term, acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli said that “the United States has tried to achieve the return of Iranian citizens to their own country”.
Cuccinelli, who is known for his extremist views about migration said that via Twitter addressing Ẓarīf: “We have 11 of your citizens and they are foreigners present illegally, so we try to reprint them into your country”.
He continued: “Suddenly you say you want their return… Why don’t you send a rented airplane and we return them all at once?”
Spokesman of the Iranian government ‘Alī Rabī‘ī have spoken about a prisoners exchange between
Iran and America without conditions, and said last Sunday: “we have information that the Iranian citizens are not in a good condition in the American prisons”, holding the government of the United States responsible for their lives in their prisons.
He added that “the United States knows about the readiness of Iran to negotiate about the prisoners, and there is no need for mediation in that”.
The last exchange operation of detainees between Washington and Tehran happened at the end of last year, and at that time American President Donald Trump thanked Iran for its measures of “very fair negotiations” to exchange prisoners after Iranian biology scientist Soleymānī and American prisoner Shee You Wang were released”.
Iran has released an American citizen arrested in Iran with the charge of espionage since 2016 when the American administration released an Iranian biology scientist Mas‘ūd Soleymānī, who was detained in 2018 on the charge of “trying to transport chemical substances in a non-legal way”.
The Iranian biology scientist Mas‘ūd Soleymānī revealed after his release the details of his detention in the American prisons, and said that “he informed the Americans about the sick of his country for him for their treatment, and they responded: Let them die!”

وزير الخارجية الإيراني محمد جواد ظريف يتناول موضوع مبادلة السجناء بين بلاده والولايات المتحدة، نافياً أن تكون هناك مفاوضات معهم
قال وزير الخارجية الإيراني، محمد جواد ظريف، اليوم الثلاثاء: “لا يوجد حالياً أي مفاوضات مع الأميركيين
وأضاف ظريف أن “الأميركيين أثبتوا أنه لا يمكن الثقة بمفاوضاتهم، وعليهم تغيير سلوكهم بدل اختلاق الذرائع
ظريف أعلن أمس الإثنين عن استعداد بلاده لتبادل السجناء مع الولايات المتحدة، وذلك على هامش اجتماع لجنة الأمن القومي والسياسة الخارجية في البرلمان. وقال: “سبق أن أعلنت خلال العام 2018 في نيويورك، أن إيران مستعدة لتبادل السجناء الإيرانيين القابعين في سجون أميركا أو بضغوط أميركية في دول أخرى مع كل السجناء الأميركيين
وأوضح ظريف أن “هذه كانت تصريحاتنا منذ ذلك الحين، لكن الأميركيين لم يردّوا عليها
من جهته، طالب المتحدث باسم الخارجية الايرانية عباس موسوي واشنطن بإطلاق سراح الرهائن الإيرانيين، مشدّداً على “ضرورة تعامل الولايات المتحدة معهم بمسؤولية، وبالكف عن التصريحات العبثية
وفي تغريدة له على تويتر قال موسوي إن “وزير خارجية بلاده وضع موضوع تبادل السجناء الشامل على الطاولة منذ عامين، ما يفنّد ادعاءات واشنطن حول تبادل السجناء
من جهته، قال القائم بأعمال نائب وزير الداخلية الأميركي كين كوتشينيلي إن “الولايات المتحدة كانت تحاول إعادة مواطنين إيرانيين إلى بلدهم
وقال كوتشينيلي المعروف بمواقفه المتشددة حيال الهجرة عبر تويتر مخاطباً ظريف: “لدينا 11 من مواطنيكم، وهم من الأجانب المتواجدين بصورة غير شرعية، ونحاول إعادتهم إلى بلدكم
وتابع: “فجأة تقولون إنكم تريدون عودتهم.. لمَ لا ترسلون طائرة مستأجرة ونعيدهم جميعاً مرة واحدة؟
وكان المتحدث باسم الحكومة الإيرانية، علي ربيعي، تحدث عن تبادل السجناء بين إيران وأميركا من دون شروط، وقال الأحد الماضي: “لدينا معلومات عن أن المواطنين الإيرانيين في أوضاع غير جيدة في السجون الأميركية”، محمّلاً الحكومة الأميركية مسؤولية حياتهم في سجونها
وأضاف أن “الولايات المتحدة على علم بجاهزية إيران للتفاوض حول السجناء، ولا حاجة لوساطة في ذلك
وتمت آخر عملية تبادل للمعتقلين بين واشنطن وطهران نهاية العام الماضي. وشكر حينها الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب إيران على إجرائها “مفاوضات منصفةً جداً” لتبادل السجناء بعد الإفراج عن عالم الأحياء الإيراني سليماني والسجين الأميركي شي يو وانغ
وأفرجت إيران عن مواطن أميركي مسجون في إيران منذ العام 2016 بتهمة التجسس، فيما أفرجت الإدارة الأميركية عن عالم الأحياء مسعود سليماني، الذي اعتقل في العام 2018 بتهمة “محاولة نقل مواد كيميائية بصورة مخالفة للقانون
وكان عالم الأحياء الإيراني مسعود سليماني كشف بعد الإفراج عنه عن تفاصيل احتجازه في السجون الأميركية، وقال إنه “أبلغ الأميركيين بحاجة مرضى بلاده له من أجل علاجهم، فردّوا: فليموتوا
