The Syrian National Assembly announces the notification by the Supreme Constitutional Court that ‘Abd Allah Sallūm ‘Abd Allah and Muḥammad Fāris Yāsīn Rağğūḥ requested the candidacy for the next presidential elections.
Speaker of the Syrian National Assembly Ḥammūda Ṣabbāġ announced that two individuals gave requests to be candidates in the presidential election scheduled for 26 May this year.
Ṣabbāġ said in a meeting held in the Parliament today that the Assembly announces on behalf of the Supreme Constitutional Court that two requests for candidacy were presented. Those are by: ‘Abd Allah Sallūm ‘Abd Allah and Muḥammad Fāris Yāsīn Rağğūḥ.
It worths mentioning that those, who were announced don’t legally count as “candidates”, only presenters of request for candidacy.
With the termination of the period for presenting the request (10 days starting from Monday), the assembly will meet to grant confirmation to a number of requesters of candidacy. When any one of them gains 35 supporting votes from the representatives then he by the constitution will become “candidate for the presidential elections”.
It should be mentioned that the Syrian National Assembly announced on Sunday the beginning of candidacy for the presidential elections starting from 19 April.
In his speech during the first section of the National Assembly’s second extraordinary session, Ṣabbāġ urged those willing to participate to request their candidacy at the Supreme Constitutional Court within 10 days, ending at the end of working hours of 28 April.
Who is ‘Abd Allah Sallūm ‘Abd Allah?
He was born in 1956.
He holds a law degree from the University of Damascus.
Previously had worked as State Minister for National Assembly matters.
He was elected to the National Assembly for the 8th legislative session between 2003 and 2007, and in the first legislative session [according to the new constitution] between 2012 and 2016. He is a member of the Socialist Unionists Party and worked in a number of positions in that. Amongst these, he was secretary of the party’s Damascus branch and member of the political committee.
Muḥammad Fāris Yāsīn Rağğūḥ?
He was born in Damascus in 1966.
He is a businessman holding a Ph.D. in construction engineering.
He was appointed as an envoy of development by the International Human Development Experts Parliament.
He is also a member of the National Democratic Block Forces Coalition and president of the administrational organization of the National Students Union in the Constructional Engineering Faculty.
He was a candidate in 2014 for the presidency.

مجلس الشعب السوري يتبلغ من المحكمة الدستورية العليا إشعاراً بتقديم عبد الله سلوم عبد الله ومحمد فراس ياسين رجوح طلبي ترشح للانتخابات الرئاسية المقبلة.
أعلن رئيس مجلس الشعب السوري حموده صباغ عن اثنين من الذين تقدموا بطلبات الترشح لانتخابات الرئاسة التي ستجري في 26 أيار/مايو المقبل
وقال صباغ في جلسة عقدها المجلس اليوم، إن المجلس تبلغ من المحكمة الدستورية العليا بتقديم طلبي ترشح من كل من: عبد الله سلوم عبد الله، ومحمد فراس ياسين رجوح
ومن الجدير بالذكر أن كل الذين يعلن عنهم لا يصنفون على أنهم “مرشحين” قانوناً، بل هم متقدمين بطلبات الترشح
ومع نهاية مهلة التقدم بالطلبات (10 أيام اعتباراً من اليوم الإثنين) يجتمع المجلس ليمنح تأييده لعدد من المتقدمين بطلبات الترشح، وعندما يحصل أي منهم على تأييد 35 عضوا يصبح حسب الدستور “مرشحاً لانتخابات الرئاسة
يذكر أن رئيس مجلس الشعب السوري أعلن يوم أمس الأحد فتح باب الترشح للانتخابات الرئاسية اعتباراً من يوم غد الاثنين 19 نيسان/ أبريل
ودعا صباغ في كلمته خلال الدورة الأولى من الجلسة الاستثنائية الثانية لمجلس الشعب الراغبين بالترشح إلى تقديم طلبات الترشيح إلى المحكمة الدستورية العليا خلال مدة 10 أيام تنتهي بنهاية الدوام من يوم الأربعاء 28 نيسان

هو من مواليد عام 1956
ويحمل إجازة في الحقوق من جامعة دمشق
شغل منصب وزير الدولة لشؤون مجلس الشعب سابقاً
وانتخب عضو مجلس الشعب بالدور التشريعي الثامن بين عامي 2003 و2007 وفي الدور التشريعي الأول بين عامي 2012 و2016، وعضو في حزب الوحدويين الاشتراكيين وشغل عدة مناصب فيه، منها أمين فرع ريف دمشق للحزب وعضو المكتب السياسي فيه
محمد فراس ياسين رجوح؟
هو من مواليد مدينة دمشق 1966
رجل أعمال حائز على دكتوراة في الهندسة المعمارية
تم تكليفه سفيراً للتنمية من قبل البرلمان الدولي لعلماء التنمية البشرية
كما أنه عضو ائتلاف قوى التكتل الوطني الديمقراطي رئيس الهيئة الادارية للاتحاد الوطني لطلبة كلية الهندسة المعمارية
ترشح في عام 2014 لمنصب رئاسة الجمهورية
