The investigative committee of the United Nations in Syria revealed that the acts of violence that were committed in the coastline region and confirms that these targeted the ‘Alawī communities.

The investigative committee of the United Nations in Syrian confirmed that the acts of violence that had been witnessed in the Syrian coastline primarily targeted the ‘Alawī communities and the peak of the massacres was reached in the beginning of March.

The committee explained that these acts included murders, tortures and inhumane acts towards the dead, pointing out that the corpses were left on the streets for days and the families were prohibited from burying them according to their religious rites.

The committee added that the acts also included large scale looting apart from burning the homes.

In this light the director of the investigative committee Paolo Sergio Pinero said that the level and the brutality of the violence documented in the report “is a very worrying matter”.

The interim government in Syria had formed a fact finding committee earlier this year about the events in the coastline and the massacres that had been committed there.

أكدت لجنة التحقيق التابعة للأمم المتحدة في سوريا أنّ أعمال العنف التي شهدها الساحل. السوري استهدفت في المقام الأول المجتمعات العلوية، وبلغت ذروتها في مجازر وقعت في أوائل آذار/مارس الماضي.

وأوضحت اللجنة أنّ تلك الأعمال شملت القتل والتعذيب والمعاملة اللاإنسانية للموتى، مشيرةً. إلى أنّ الجثث تُركت في الشوارع لأيام، ومُنعت العائلات من دفنها وفقاً لطقوسها الدينية.

وأضافت اللجنة أنّ الأعمال شملت أيضاً النهب. على نطاق واسع فضلاً عن حرق المنازل.

وفي ضوء ذلك، قال رئيس لجنة التحقيق، باولو سيرجيو بينهيرو، إنّ حجم. ووحشية العنف الموثّق في التقرير “أمر مقلق للغاية”.
