Two Turkish officials reveal the probable upcoming visit by Abū Zabī Crown Prince to Ankara “to improve the relations between the two countries and ease tension”.

Two Turkish officials announced on Monday that Abū Zabī Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān will may visit Turkey on 24 November to hold negotiations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in a step to repair the troubled relations between them.

One of the officials said that “Erdoğan and Ibn Zāyid will discuss bilateral relations, trade, regional developments and investments”. The other official revealed that “the visit is an important development to improve the regional ties and ease tension”.

On his behalf the Emirati Foreign Ministry refrained from commenting what the Turkish officials claimed, and also their statements were not confirmed by the Turkish Presidency.

In August the Turkish President revealed that “the Emirates is about to launch major investments in Turkey”, revealing that “Ankara during the last months held meetings with the administration in Abū Zabī”, and that “the study addressed the roadmap connected to the investments”.

Erdoğan believed that there shall be some meetings with the Crown Prince of Abū Zabī in the next period, pointing out that “the Emirates has quite serious plans about Turkey”.

It should be remembered that the Turkish President previously last year had threatened to recall the Turkish ambassador from Abū Zabī or to block diplomatic relations with the Emirates in a response to the normalization agreement the Emirates signed with “Israel” on 15 September 2020.

Before that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavušoğlu held a telephone call to his Emirati colleague ‘Abd Allah ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān, which came after a 4 years long halt.

The relations between the Emirates and Turkey witnessed a number of turmoils in recent times, most of them rolling around the role of the two countries in the struggle the Libyan field experienced. Both and Ankara and Abū Zabī supported different sides in the Libyan struggle, which sparked turmoils between the two parties.
