Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announces an air and land military operation being launched against the Kurdistani Workers’ Party in Northern Iraq and points out that the Turkish planes have already bombarded targets, camps, tunnels, bunkers and ammunition depots.
The Turkish Defense Ministry announced on Monday the launch of an areal and land military operation against the Kurdistani Workers’ Party in Northern Iraq.
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that “Turkish planes bombed targets, camps, tunnels, bunkers and ammunition depots”.
Akar added that “Turkish special forces infiltrated to the area and took part in the operation with support from the artillery units”. Thus also explaining that the operation targeted by his description “Kurdish armed men” in the area of Mītīnā Wazzāb and Afašīn-Bāsyān in Northern Iraq.
The official Turkish “Anadolu” news agency cited the ministry saying: “our operation is ongoing with success until now, as it was planned”. Also pointing out that “the targeting attack against certain targets in the first phase”.
According to the agency Akar explained that “the operation aims to prevent terrorist attacks” and to “secure the border security”.
The attacks counts to be part of an ongoing Turkish offensive in Iraq and Syria against the warriors of the Syrian Kurdish People’s Defence Units and the Kurdistani Workers’ Party, which Ankara considers “terrorist groups”.
Turkey launched a systematic airstrikes against Northern Iraq, as also sent “commando” units to the area to aid the attacks.
Previously Secretary General of the “ ‘Aṣā’ib al-Ḥaqq” Movement Qays al-Hazz‘alī in February condemned that Turkish aggressions against the Iraqi sovereignty and said that “ the targeted attacks against the civilians by excuses and pretexts go on”, and that “the resistance fighters of Iraq will deliver a better lesson to the Turkish occupation”.

تركيا تطلق عملية عسكرية ضد حزب العمال الكردستاني شمال العراق

وزير الدفاع التركي خلوصي أكار يعلن إطلاق عملية عسكرية جوية وبرية ضد حزب العمال الكردستاني شمال العراق، ويشير إلى أنّ طائرات تركية قصفت أهدافاً ومعسكرات وأنفاقاً وملاجئ ومخازن ذخيرة.
أعلنت وزارة الدفاع التركية، اليوم الإثنين، إطلاق عملية عسكرية جوية وبرية شمال العراق ضد حزب العمال الكردستاني.
وقال وزير الدفاع التركي خلوصي أكار إنّ “طائرات تركية قصفت أهدافاً ومعسكرات وأنفاقاً وملاجئ ومخازن ذخيرة”.
وأضاف أكار أنّ “قوات تركية خاصة تسللت إلى المنطقة وشاركت في العملية بدعم من وحدات مدفعية”، موضحاً أنّها استهدفت من وصفهم بـ”مسلحين كرد” في مناطق ميتينا وزاب وأفاشين-باسيان شمال العراق.
ونقلت وكالة “الأناضول” التركية الرسمية عن وزير الدفاع التركي قوله: “عمليتنا مستمرة بنجاح حتى الآن كما هو مخطط لها”، مشيراً إلى “استهداف الأهداف المحددة في المرحلة الأولى”.
وبحسب الوكالة، أوضح أكار أنّ “العملية تهدف إلى منع الهجمات الإرهابية” و”ضمان أمن الحدود”.
ويعد هذا الهجوم جزءاً من حملة تركية مستمرة في العراق وسوريا ضد مقاتلي وحدات حماية الشعب الكردية السورية وحزب العمال الكردستاني، اللذين تعتبرهما أنقرة “جماعة إرهابية”.
وتشنّ تركيا غارات جوية بشكل منتظم على شمال العراق، فيما أرسلت قوات “كوماندوس” إلى المنطقة لدعم هجماتها.
وسبق أن أدان الأمين العام لحركة “عصائب أهل الحق” قيس الخزعلي، في شباط/فبراير الماضي، الانتهاك التركي للسيادة العراقية، وقال إنّه “يتمادى في استهداف المدنيين الآمنين بحجج وذرائع”، وأنّ “مقاومي العراق سيلقنون الاحتلال التركي درساً قاسياً
