The Sudanese Army addressed the people of Kurdufān within the ranks of the “Rapid Support Forces” to put down their weapons and warned the civilians not to go close to its positions of military movements.

The Sudanese Army called upon the people of the Kurdufān Region who are within the ranks of the “Rapid Support Forces” to put down the weapons and surrender themselves to the closest army unit, promising to grant them safety in accordance with the law and the militia customs.
The call came in a statement by the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces General Command. The statement pointed out that “the battle that is waged by the army is not aimed against the people of Kurdufān, but against the leaders it said have exploited them and pushed them to the frontlines serving foreign agendas and interests.
The army called upon those who joined the “Rapid Support Forces” to reverse their position and not to continue the fighting, saying that “whoever puts down the weapons and surrender himself immediately to the closest gathering, or unit of the armed forces will be safe”. The statement also warned those whom it called “adamant to stay” within the ranks of the Rapid Support Forces not to confront the military operations that are being carried out by the army and its allied forces in Kurdufān Region.
The army issued a warning to the citizens in the provinces of Kurdufān, calling upon them to fully distance themselves from the concentration points of the Rapid Support Forces, their positions of movement and the areas where they are concentrated. It requested the residents not to get close to the gatherings and the positions that are used by the Rapid Support Forces which they use for hiding, or for movement, and follow the instructions issued by the military front commands to preserve their lives during the operations.
The warning came in light of the escalation of land and areal operations in Kurdufān Region that has become one of the pivotal fronts in the war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces. The statement also came after the army and its allied forces announced achieving progress in Northern Kurdufān, regaining the region of Bārā, Ğabrat aš-Šayh and Umm Sayyāla that are along the vital axis connecting the city of al-Ubayḍ with Central Sudan and Dārfūr.
In a similar context President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander of the Army ‘Abd al-Fattāḥ al-Burhān inspected the forces at the front lines in the areas of Umm Sayyāla and Ğabrat aš-Šayh while at the same time the Rapid Support Forces announced reviewing their military lines following the progress of the army. The army has also announced during the last few weeks increasing its efforts in Kurdufān and Dārfūr, confirming its will to regain the areas and the military headquarters the Rapid Support Forces had taken under control.
The city of Bārā has a strategic importance for being situated along the highway that connects Omdurman with the city of al-Ubayḍ and the provinces of Dārfūr, which makes the control over it impactful for the movement of the forces and their supply between Central Sudan and its western region. Kurdufān Region consists of the provinces of Northern, Western and Southern Kurdufān and represent a geographical and military corridor between the areas controlled by the army in Central and Eastern Sudan and the regions under the influence of the Rapid Support Forces in Dārfūr Region. The city of al-Ubayḍ, the capital of Northern Kurdufān Province is the biggest civilization center in the region and hosts strategic military installations and an airport. It also connects a number of trading and military roads leading to Dārfūr and Khartoum.

دعا الجيش السوداني أبناء إقليم كردفان الموجودين في صفوف قوات “الدعم السريع” إلى إلقاء السلاح وتسليم أنفسهم إلى أقرب وحدة عسكرية، متعهّداً بمنحهم الأمان وفقاً للقانون والأعراف العسكرية.
وجاءت الدعوة في بيان لوزارة الدفاع والقيادة العامّة للقوات المسلحة. وأشار البيان إلى أنّ “المعركة التي يخوضها الجيش ليست موجّهة ضدّ أبناء كردفان، بل ضدّ القيادات التي قال إنها استغلتهم ودفعت بهم إلى جبهات القتال خدمةً لأجندات ومصالح خارجية”.
ودعا الجيش المنضمّين إلى “الدعم السريع” إلى مراجعة موقفهم وعدم الاستمرار في القتال، قائلاً إنّ “من يضع سلاحه ويسلّم نفسه فوراً إلى أقرب ارتكاز أو وحدة تابعة للقوات المسلحة سيكون آمناً على نفسه”. كما حذّر البيان من سمّاهم “المصرّين على البقاء” في صفوف قوات “الدعم السريع” من مواجهة العمليات العسكرية التي ينفّذها الجيش والقوات المتحالفة معه في إقليم كردفان
وكان وجّه الجيش تحذيراً إلى المواطنين في ولايات كردفان، دعاهم فيه إلى الابتعاد بصورة كاملة عن ارتكازات قوات الدعم السريع ونقاطها المتحرّكة ومناطق تجمع عناصرها. وطالب السكان بعدم الاقتراب من التجمّعات والمواقع التي تستخدمها قوات “الدعم السريع” للاختباء أو التحرّك، والالتزام بالتعليمات الصادرة عن القيادات العسكرية الميدانية، حفاظاً على حياتهم خلال العمليات.
ويأتي التحذير في ظلّ تصاعد العمليات البرية والجوية في إقليم كردفان، الذي بات إحدى الجبهات الرئيسية في الحرب بين الجيش و”الدعم السريع”. كما جاء البيان عقب إعلان الجيش والقوات المتحالفة معه تحقيق تقدّم ميداني في شمال كردفان، واستعادة مناطق بارا وجبرة الشيخ وأم سيّالة، الواقعة على محاور حيوية تربط مدينة الأبيض بوسط السودان ودارفور.
وفي سياق مواز، تفقّد رئيس مجلس السيادة الانتقالي قائد الجيش، عبد الفتاح البرهان، القوات الموجودة في الخطوط الأمامية في منطقتي أم سيالة وجبرة الشيخ، بالتزامن مع إعلان “الدعم السريع” إعادة النظر في خططها العسكرية عقب تقدّم الجيش. كما أعلن الجيش، خلال الأسابيع الماضية، تكثيف عملياته في كردفان ودارفور، مؤكّداً عزمه استعادة المناطق والمقار العسكرية التي تسيطر عليها قوات “الدعم السريع”.
وتكتسب مدينة بارا أهمية استراتيجية لوقوعها على الطريق الرابط بين أم درمان ومدينة الأبيض وولايات دارفور، ما يجعل السيطرة عليها مؤثّرةً في حركة القوات والإمدادات بين وسط السودان وغربه. ويتألف إقليم كردفان من ولايات شمال وغرب وجنوب كردفان، ويمثّل ممراً جغرافياً وعسكرياً بين مناطق سيطرة الجيش في وسط وشرق السودان ومناطق نفوذ قوات الدعم السريع في إقليم دارفور. وتُعدّ مدينة الأبيض، عاصمة شمال كردفان، أكبر مركز حضري في الإقليم، كما تستضيف منشآت عسكرية ومطاراً استراتيجياً، وتربط عدداً من الطرق التجارية والعسكرية المؤدّية إلى دارفور والخرطوم
