The secretary of the defense ministry in the “al-Wifāq” General Ṣalāḥ an-Namrūš speaks about the bombardment of al-Waṭiyya Air Base by “foreign planes” support Field General Ḥaftar, and confirms that “the underlying strategy is to take all lands of Libya under control”.
The government of the “National Accord” [al-Wifāq] accused today, Monday “foreign planes” with the bombardment of the al-Waṭiyya airbase located 140 km southwest from the capital Tripoli, without providing details on the airplanes, which launched the offensive and on what were the targets.
Secretary of Defense Ministry at the “al-Wifāq” Ṣalāḥ an-Namrūš said in a statement that “the al-Wifāq airbase has suffered a bombardment yesterday night carried out by treacherous coward foreign planes supporting a war criminal in a desperate attempt to achieve meaningful success, thus answering to the continuous victories, which the heroes of this land achieved”, according to his expressions.
According to what was reported by the “Lībīa al-Aḥrār [Libya of the free]” channel he added that “targeting any vital installation within the borders of Libya is a confirmation that some are still continuing to bet on aggression against the lawful government”.
An-Namrūš confirmed that “the deterrent answer will be in the appropriate time and place”.
An-Namrūš condemned the “the continuation of the war criminal Ḥaftar in his aggression against the lawful government with the blessing of the states supporting him”, pointing out that “our principal strategy in our battles is to take all lands of Libya under control and we shall work to raise the morals of the children of our people”.
On their own side, the media outlets leaning towards the forces of Field General Halīfa Ḥaftar confirmed “the targeting of the Turkish air defense within the al-Waṭiyya airbase in an arial bombardment”.
The reports have it that the equipment installed in the “ ‘Uqba ibn Nāfi‘“ airbase became ready to use “only that the forces of Ḥaftar destroyed them after they entered service. And it was reported that the level of destruction was 100%”.
However, the Turkish “Anadolu” news agency reported on military sources “unknown foreign planned has targeted the air defense system and the equipment within the base”.
The al-Wifāq government took the strategic al-Waṭiyya airbase close to the Tunisian border last May after it was sieging it for two months and shelled heavy areal bombardments upon it. At that time the forces of Ḥaftar accused the al-Wifāq government that it wants to hand over the base to Turkey.
The “al-Wifāq” government took over the whole Western Libya and forced the forces of Ḥaftar to withdraw to Sirt some 450 km to the east from Tripoli.

اتهمت حكومة “الوفاق الوطني” الليبية، اليوم الأحد، “طيراناً أجنبياً” بقصف قاعدة الوطية الجوية الواقعة على مسافة 140 كلم جنوب غرب العاصمة طرابلس، من دون أن تقدم تفاصيل عن الطائرات التي شنّت الهجوم وماهيّة الأهداف
وقال وكيل وزارة الدفاع بحكومة “الوفاق” صلاح النمروش، في بيان “تعرضت قاعدة الوطية الجوية لقصف ليلة البارحة نفّذه طيران غادر أجنبي جبان داعم لمجرم الحرب في محاولة بائسة لتحقيق نصر معنوي، رداً على الانتصارات المتتالية التي حققها الأبطال على الأرض”، حسب تعبيره
وأضاف بحسب ما نقلته قناة “ليبيا الأحرار” أن “استهداف أي منشآت حيوية ضمن حدود ليبيا هو تأكيد لاستمرار بعض الدول في المراهنة على العدوان ضد الحكومة الشرعية
وأكد النمروش أن “الرد الرادع سيكون في الوقت والمكان المناسبين
وندد النمروش بـ”استمرار مجرم الحرب حفتر في عدوانه على الحكومة الشرعية وبمباركة الدول الداعمة له”، مشيراً إلى أن “الاستراتيجية العامة لمعركتنا هي السيطرة على كافة تراب ليبيا، وسنعمل على رفع المعاناة عن أبناء شعبنا
من جهتها، أكدت وسائل إعلام محلية موالية لقوات المشير خليفة حفتر “استهداف منظومات دفاع جوي تركية داخل قاعدة الوطية بضربات جوية
وأفادت التقارير أن المعدات التي تمّ نصبها في قاعدة “عقبة بن نافع” أصبحت جاهزة للاستخدام، “لتقوم قوات حفتر بتدميرها بعد دخولها للخدمة وبلغت نسبة التدمير 100%
لكن وكالة أنباء “الأناضول” التركية الحكومية نقلت عن مصادر عسكرية “استهداف طيران أجنبي مجهول منظومة للدفاع الجوي وتجهيزات داخل القاعدة
واستعادت حكومة الوفاق قاعدة “الوطية” الجوية الاستراتيجية القريبة من الحدود التونسية في أيار/مايو الماضي، بعد محاصرتها لشهرين واستهدافها بغارات جوية كثيفة، واتهمت قوات حفتر حينها، حكومة الوفاق بتسليم القاعدة الجوية لتركيا
واستعادت حكومة “الوفاق” السيطرة على كامل غرب ليبيا، واضطرت قوات حفتر إلى التراجع إلى سرت التي تبعد 450 كلم شرق طرابلس
