The Saudi authorities have detained Prince Fayṣal, heir of late King “ ‘Abd Allah”, and held him in contempt sealed off from the outside world.

The “Human Rights Watch” stated on Saturday that the Saudi authorities have detained Prince “Fayṣal” on last 27 March, refusing to reveal its place and situation.
The story of Prince Fayṣal goes back to the events of the arbitrary detention and the “forced disappearance”, which is known to happen against leading Saudis, among them members of the royal family. All that outside of any acknowledged legal procedure, according to the “Rights Watch”.
Before that, the authorities have detained Prince “Fayṣal” in November 2017 and held him arrested along with more than 300 leading businessmen, members of the royal family, present and former officials, all in the Ritz Carlton Hotel” in Riyadh.
At that time, so says the organization, the authorities have pressured them to give up their incomes in exchange for setting them free, also outside of any clear, or acknowledged legal procedure.
The authorities released Price “Fayṣal” after that in late December 2017, after he agreed to give his resources.
Upon his release, the authorities have issued a random measure prohibiting the travels of Prince “Fayṣal”.
And a well-informed source in the security forces on 27 March 2020 have talked about a family resort in the northeast of Riyadh, where Price “Fayṣal” was held in a personal health lockdown because of the Corona Virus, and he was arrested without revealing the reasons.
He contributed: “The members of the family could gain any information about the whereabouts of Prince Fayṣal, or about his conditions since then, which constitutes as “forced disappearance”.
According to the source, the basis of Prince “Fayṣal’s” present detention is “not clear”.
The Deputy-Director of the Middle East branch in the international legal organization Michal Page said: “regardless the waves of criticism the illegal behavior by the Saudi authorities continue during the reign of (Crown Prince) Muḥammad ibn Salmān, the practical ruler presently”.
He went further: “We now have to add Price Fayṣal to the hundreds of those detained in Saudi Arabia without any clear legal basis”.
Returning to the core, Prince “Fayṣal” has not criticized the authorities openly since his release and his family is worried about his health as he has a hearth problem.
The arrests since 2017 have targeted a number of segments of the Saudi society, including religious figures, intellectuals, human rights activists, businessmen and members of the royal family, including the sons of late King “ ‘Abd Allah”.
Among sons of the late king arrested in November 2017, there was former Governor of Mecca “Miš‘al ibn ‘Abd Allah”, former Minister of the National Guard Prince “Mut‘ab ibn ‘Abd Allah”, and former Governor of Riyadh “Turkī ibn ‘Abd Allah”.
Prince “Turkī” is still arrested without any charge.
The Saudi authorities have also targeted other members of the royal family in recent months.
At the beginning of March 2020 the authorities have arrested three leading princes, among them a full brother of King Salmān, Prince “Aḥmad ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azīz”, in addition to former Crown Prince and Interior Minister Prince “Muḥammad ibn Nāyif”, who was deposed by King Salmān and “Ibn Salmān” in June 2017, after which he was put into house arrest for a long time.
On 15 April 2020 the personal account on Twitter for Princess “Basma bint Sa‘ūd”, daughter of late King “Sa‘ūd” has posted a series of tweets suggesting that she and her daughter are held in contempt without any charges in the “al-Ḥā’ir Prison” (in the south of Riyadh) and her health has started to dwindle.
After a few hours the tweets have disappeared, before the source of those tweets could have been verified since their post. Members of her family haven’t received any informations about her.
“Page” has commented on that saying: “it is clear that the recent Saudi justice reforms don’t exclude random and spreading arrests, including those that targeted the leading members of the royal family”.
He added: “the arrest of Prince “Fayṣal” and his probable disappearance once again leads to the fact that the Saudi authorities have neglected the warnings for the rule of the law and the necessity to perform a complete reform on the judicial system”.
Those following the events say that the detention of the princes in the kingdom might be a preliminary step to contain the dangers, which might arose without “Ibn Salmān” taking over the throne from his father.
Customarily the political stability in Saudi Arabia was supported by an agreement between the princes inside the “Āl Sa‘ūd” family. However, “Ibn Salmān”, with the secured support by his father King “Salmān” alters the system constantly with the aim to concentrate power for himself.
According to experts, the arrests come as a power struggle, so there would be no contender for power within the royal family to challenge “Ibn Salmān”.

وتعد قضية الأمير “فيصل” أحدث احتجاز تعسفي و”اختفاء قسري” معروف بحق سعوديين بارزين، بينهم أفراد في العائلة المالكة، خارج أي إجراء قانوني معترف به، حسب “رايتس ووتش
وسبق أن اعتقلت السلطات الأمير “فيصل”، في نوفمبر/تشرين الثاني 2017، واحتجزته مع أكثر من 300 من رجال الأعمال البارزين، وأفراد العائلة المالكة، ومسؤولين حاليين وسابقين في “فندق الريتز كارلتون” بالرياض

وأفرجت السلطات بعدها عن الأمير “فيصل” أواخر ديسمبر/كانون الأول 2017، بعد أن وافق على تسليم الأصول
وعقب إطلاق سراحه، فرضت السلطات حظرا تعسفيا على سفر الأمير “فيصل
وكشف مصدر مطلع أن قوات الأمن وصلت في 27 مارس/آذار 2020، إلى مجمع عائلي شمال شرقي الرياض؛ حيث كان الأمير “فيصل” في حجر صحي ذاتي بسبب فيروس “كورونا”، واحتجزته دون الكشف عن الأسباب
وتابع: “أفراد الأسرة لم يتمكنوا من معرفة أي شيء عن موقع الأمير فيصل، أو وضعه منذ ذلك الحين، وهو ما قد يشكّل إخفاءً قسريا
ووفق المصدر، فإن أساس احتجاز الأمير “فيصل” الحالي “غير واضح
وقال نائب مدير قسم الشرق الأوسط في المنظمة الحقوقية الدولية “مايكل بَيج”: “رغم موجات الانتقاد، يستمر السلوك غير القانوني للسلطات السعودية أثناء حكم (ولي الأمر الأمير) محمد بن سلمان بحكم الأمر الواقع
وزاد: “علينا الآن إضافة الأمير فيصل إلى مئات المحتجزين في السعودية بدون أساس قانوني واضح
وبالعودة إلى المصدر، فإن الأمير “فيصل” لم ينتقد علنا السلطات منذ الإفراج عنه، وأفراد الأسرة قلقون على صحته لأن لديه مرضا في القلب

من بين أبناء الملك السابق المعتقلين، في نوفمبر/تشرين الثاني 2017، حاكم مكة السابق الأمير “مشعل بن عبدالله”، ووزير الحرس الوطني الأسبق الأمير “متعب بن عبدالله”، وحاكم الرياض السابق الأمير “تركي بن عبدالله
ما يزال الأمير “تركي” معتقلا دون تهمة
واستهدفت السلطات السعودية أفرادا آخرين في العائلة المالكة في الأشهر الأخيرة
ففي أوائل مارس/آذار 2020، اعتقلت السلطات 3 أمراء كبار منهم شقيق الملك “سلمان” الأمير “أحمد بن عبدالعزيز”، إلى جانب ولي العهد السابق ووزير الداخلية الأمير “محمد بن نايف”، الذي عزله الملك “سلمان” و”بن سلمان” في يونيو/حزيران 2017، وبعد ذلك وُضِع تحت الإقامة الجبرية الطويلة
وفي 15 أبريل/نيسان 2020، نشر حساب “تويتر” مُوثّق للأميرة “بسمة بنت سعود” ابنة الملك الراحل “سعود”، سلسلة من التغريدات تفيد بأنها وابنتها محتجزتان دون تهمة في “سجن الحائر” (جنوب الرياض)، وأن صحتها آخذة في التدهور
واختفت التغريدات بعد عدة ساعات، قبل أن تكشف مصادر أنه منذ حذف التغريدات، لم يتلق أفراد العائلة أي معلومات حول وضعها
وعلق على ذلك “بَيج” بالقول: “من الواضح أن إصلاحات العدالة السعودية الأخيرة لم تكبح الاعتقالات التعسفية المتفشية، بما فيها تلك التي استهدفت أفراد العائلة المالكة البارزين
وأضاف: “يدلّ اعتقال الأمير فيصل وإخفاؤه المحتمل مرة أخرى على تجاهل السلطات السعودية الصارخ لسيادة القانون وضرورة إجراء إصلاح شامل لنظام العدالة
ويقول مراقبون إن اعتقال الأمراء في المملكة، قد يكون خطوة استباقية لإدارة المخاطر التي تحول دون تسلم “بن سلمان” العرش خلفا لأبيه
فتقليديا، كان الاستقرار السياسي في السعودية مدعوما بتوافق الأمراء داخل عائلة “آل سعود”. لكن “بن سلمان”، بدعمٍ ضمني من والده الملك “سلمان”، يغير النظام بشكل مطرد؛ بهدف تركيز السلطة في شخصه
