“In consequence of the diminishing crisis with Iran experienced previously this year”, Bloomberg reveals upon a leading official that the United States revokes more Patriot air Defence system batteries from Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
The American Bloomberg agency revealed that the United States removed two of the Patriot anti-air batteries from Saudi Arabia and other two from the Middle East.
The agency quoted an unnamed American official that the United States has taken this step “In consequence of the diminishing crisis with Iran experienced previously this year”. According to the American official, who underlined that the two batteries in Saudi Arabia were helping defending the oilfields will probably be replaced by Saudi Patriot batteries.
The American official added that “there are still more than 12 “Patriot” and “Thad” batteries are present in the region, capable of intercepting high altitude ballistic missiles.

كشفت وكالة “بلومبيرغ” الأميركية أن الولايات المتحدة أزالت بطاريتين من بطاريات باتريوت المضادة للصواريخ من السعودية وبطاريتين أخريين في الشرق الأوسط
ونقلت الوكالة عن مسؤول أميركي لم تذكر اسمه أن الولايات المتحدة أقدمت على هذه الخطوة “على خلفية تراجع التوترات مع إيران في وقت سابق من هذا العام”، وفق المسؤول الأميركي، الذي أوضح أن البطاريتين في السعودية كانتا تساعدان على حماية حقول النفط في البلاد، مرجحاً أن تُستبدلا ببطاريات باتريوت سعودية
وأضاف المسؤول الأميركي أن “أكثر من 12 بطارية “باتريوت” وبطارية “ثاد” يمكنها اعتراض الصواريخ الباليستية على ارتفاعات عالية لا تزال في المنطقة
بالتزامن، علق وزير الخارجية الأميركي مايك بومبيو عن سحب بلاده للمنظومات الدفاع الصاروخية من السعودية، قائلاً إن هذا الأمر ليس خفضاً لدعم الولايات المتحدة للمملكة، وإنما بسبب الحاجة لإعادة انتشار هذه القوات
وفي وقت سابق، نقلت صحيفة “وول ستريت جورنال” عن مسؤولين أميركيين قولهم إن الولايات المتحدة “ستسحب بطاريات صواريخ باتريوت من السعودية
بدورها ذكرت “رويترز” عن مصادر أميركية تأكيدها أن الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب تحدث إلى ولي العهد السعودي محمد بن سلمان قبل عشرة أيام من إعلان تقليص استخراج النفط السعودي، وهدده بسحب الجنود الأميركيين من السعودية في حال لم تمتثل الأخيرة لخفض إنتاج النفط، في ظل انخفاض الطلب بسبب إجراءات فيروس كورونا
