Saudi Arabia welcomes the “positive results” of the negotiations supporting the peace process in Yemen.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry announced that it welcomes the positive results of the meetings about the laying down a roadmap to support the peace process in Yemen and confirms that with the delegation of Sana’a, a number of ideas and choices were put forward to improve the peace process acceptable for all Yemeni parties.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry has welcomed the positive results of the serious negotiations about reaching a roadmap supporting the peace process in Yemen after a series of talks about the upcoming agreement paving the way for ending the war in Yemen ongoing for 8 years.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Saudi Foreign Ministry mentioned that negotiations were held between the Saudi contact and a coordinating group led by the ambassador of the kingdom in Yemen Muḥammad Āl Ğābir with the participation of the Omani mediating group and between the delegation of Sana’a led by Muḥammad ‘Abd as-Salām in the city of Riyadh between 14 and 18 September.

The Ministry pointed out that these negotiations “came to continue the meetings of the Saudi group that had held these meetings in the past with the President and the members of the Presidential Leadership Council in Sana’a and these put forward a number of ideas and choices to develop the roadmap acceptable by all Yemeni parties”.

Also, Saudi Defense Minister Hālid ibn Salmān has met with the delegation of Sana’a that has visited Riyadh 5 days prior. During his meeting with the delegation, he confirmed the need to “reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution in Yemen under the oversight of the UN”.

On Tuesday the negotiating delegation of Sana’a has returned to the Yemeni capital in order to refer to the leadership of the Supreme Political Council after 5 days of negotiations that were held with the Saudi side in Riyadh.

This was the first public visit by the delegation of Sana’a to Saudi Arabia since in March 2015 Riyadh announced a military operation leading a Saudi Coalition against Yemen.

Before the Saudi visit President of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen Mahdī al-Mišṭ said that a delegation of Sana’a will be heading to Riyadh “in response to the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman accompanied by the Omani delegation in order to continue the talks with the Saudi side”.

Information Minister of the government of Sana’a Ḍayf Allah aš-Šāmī confirmed talking to al-Mayadeen that “the indications of the visit by Saudi Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Salmān to Muscat indicates that he asked for an initiative about a delegation of Sana’a to visit Riyadh”, adding that “Saudi Arabia tries to promote itself as a mediator in the war in Yemen, which will not succeed, as it is part of the aggression”.

The Omani delegation was overseeing the negotiations in Sana’a between the government in Sana’a and the Saudi delegation led by the kingdom’s ambassador to Yemen Muḥammad Āl Ğābir in April that lasted 6 days and that studied the humanitarian and ceasefire matters in Yemen and the beginning of a comprehensive Yemeni political process, but at that time the negotiations reached a dead end.

وزارة الخارجية السعودية تعلن ترحيبها بالنتائج الإيجابية للاجتماعات المتعلقة بوضع خارطة طريق لدعم مسار السلام في اليمن، وتؤكد التوصل مع وفد صنعاء إلى العديد من الأفكار والخيارات لتطوير مسار تتوافق عليه كل الأطراف اليمنية

رحّبت وزارة الخارجية السعودية بالنتائج الإيجابية للنقاشات الجادة بشأن التوصل إلى خارطة طريق لدعم مسار السلام في اليمن، بعد جولة محادثات بشأن اتفاق محتمل يمهد الطريق لإنهاء الحرب المستمرة منذ 8 سنوات في اليمن.

وذكرت وزارة الخارجية السعودية، في بيان اليوم الأربعاء، أنه جرى عقد المباحثات بين فريق التواصل والتنسيق السعودي برئاسة سفير المملكة لدى اليمن محمد آل جابر بمشاركة الوسيط العُماني مع وفد صنعاء برئاسة محمد عبد السلام في مدينة الرياض خلال الفترة الممتدة من 14 إلى 18 أيلول/سبتمبر

وبيّنت الوزارة أن هذه المباحثات “جاءت استكمالاً للقاءات الفريق السعودي الذي أجراها في فترة سابقة مع رئيس وأعضاء مجلس القيادة الرئاسي اليمني، وفي صنعاء، التي تم التوصل فيها إلى العديد من الأفكار والخيارات لتطوير خارطة طريق تتوافق عليها كل الأطراف اليمنية”.

كذلك، التقى وزير الدفاع السعودي خالد بن سلمان وفد صنعاء الذي زار الرياض قبل 5 أيام. وأكد خلال لقائه بالوفد ضرورة “التوصُّل إلى حل سياسي شامل ودائم في اليمن تحت إشراف الأمم المتحدة

وأمس الثلاثاء، عاد وفد صنعاء المفاوض إلى العاصمة اليمنية من أجل التشاور مع قيادة المجلس السياسي الأعلى بعد 5 أيام من المفاوضات التي أجراها مع الجانب السعودي في الرياض.

وهذه أول زيارة علنية لوفد صنعاء إلى السعودية منذ أن باشرت الرياض في آذار/مارس 2015 حملة عسكرية على رأس التحالف السعودي على اليمن.

وفي وقتٍ سبق زيارة السعودية، قال رئيس المجلس السياسي الأعلى في اليمن مهدي المشاط إنّ وفد صنعاء سيتوجه إلى الرياض “استجابةً لوساطة سلطنة عُمان، رفقةَ الوفد العماني، من أجل استكمال المشاورات مع الجانب السعودي”.

وكان وزير الإعلام في حكومة صنعاء ضيف الله الشامي أكد في حديث إلى الميادين أنّ “معطيات زيارة ولي العهد السعودي، محمد بن سلمان، لمسقط تشير إلى أنه هو من طلب إليها المبادرة بشأن زيارة وفد صنعاء للرياض”، مضيفاً أنّ “السعودية تحاول أن تقدم نفسها وسيطاً في حرب اليمن، وهذا لن ينجح، لأنها طرف في العدوان“.

ورعى وفد عُماني مباحثات في صنعاء بين حكومة صنعاء ووفد سعودي رسمي برئاسة سفير المملكة لدى اليمن محمد آل جابر في نيسان/أبريل الماضي، استمرت 6 أيام، وبحثت الملف الإنساني وإيقاف إطلاق النار في اليمن وبدء عملية سياسية يمنية شاملة، ولكن المفاوضات تعثّرت  حينها
