The Moroccan and the American armies start the biggest military drill in the continent with the participation of some 7500 soldiers.
On Monday the Moroccan and the American armies launched the “Lion of Africa 2022” military drill, the biggest military exercise in the African continent, with the participation of 18 states lasting until 30 June.
The drills, which will see trainings in various parts of the country and in Western Sahara , will host the participation of some 7500 soldiers from Morocco, the Untied States and many allied states, but it will also partially held in Tunisia, Senegal and Ghana.
A statement issued by the Moroccan Armed Forces Supreme Command said that “18th session of the exercises will be held in the regions of al-Qunayṭra, Aġādir, Ṭānṭān, Tārūdānt and al-Ḥabas with the participation of the strongest military detachment representing 18”.
According to the statement “the session of the Lion of Africa drill will also host military observers from some 30 states from Africa and the world”.
The official website of the American army citing American army Lieutenant James Googleemey announced that “the Lion of Africa 2022 drills will a broader and larges drill compared to what had been done in 2021”. Adding that it “will be the best military training until now”.
Within the drill various land, airborne, areal and naval missions will be conducted, but also decontamination (nuclear, radiation, biological and chemical) missions in essence with the aim in essence to improve the internal operation readiness, strengthening the intervention capabilities in a multinational fashion.
The drill will also hold military war and security operations exercises with the aim to increase the participating armies’ and the cooperation between them, in order to confront all security challenges and strengthen the intervention capacities of the American forces in the African continent.

المغرب: انطلاق مناورات “الأسد الأفريقي” بالشراكة مع أميركا ودول عدّة

الجيشان المغربي والأميركي يطلقان أكبر مناورة في القارة السمراء بمشاركة نحو 7500 جنديّ.
يبدأ الجيشان المغربي والأميركي، اليوم الاثنين، مناورات “الأسد الأفريقي 2022″، وهي أكبر تدريبات عسكرية في القارة السمراء، بمشاركة 18 دولة وتستمر حتى الـ30 من حزيران/ يونيو الجاري.
المناورات التي ستشهد تدريباتٍ في مناطق متفرقةٍ من البلاد وقرب الصحراء الغربية، يشاركُ فيها نحو 7500 جنديٍّ من المغرب والولايات المتحدة، وكثير من الدول الحليفة، وهي ستُجرى أيضاً جُزئياً في تونس والسنغال وغانا.
وقال بيانٌ صادر عن القيادة العليا للقوات المسلحة الملكية المغربية، إنّ “الدورة الـ18 من التدريبات ستجرى في مناطق القنيطرة، وأغادير، وطانطان، وتارودانت والمحبس، بمشاركةِ أقوى الفرق العسكرية التي تُمثّل 18 دولة”.
ووفق البيان فإنّ “الدورة من مناورات الأسد الأفريقي، ستعرف أيضاً مشاركة مراقبين عسكريين من نحو 30 دولة من أفريقيا والعالم”.
الموقع الرسمي للجيش الأميركي أعلن من جهته، نقلاً عن الرائد العسكري الأميركي، جيمس غوغليلمي، أنّ “مناورات الأسد الأفريقي لعام 2022 ستكون أوسع وأكبر من التداريب التي أُجريت عام 2021″، مضيفاً أنّها “ستكون أفضل تدريب عسكري حتى الآن”.
وستنفّذ هذه المناورات في مختلف المجالات العملياتية البرية والمحمولة جواً والجوية والبحرية، وإزالة التلوّث (النووي والإشعاعي والبيولوجي والكيمائي)، وتهدف على نحو أساسي إلى تطوير قابلية التشغيل البيني وتعزيز قدرات التدخل في إطار متعدّد الجنسية.
وسيشمل التدريب أيضاً تمارين عسكرية حربية وعمليات أمنية تهدف إلى تقوية قدرات الجيوش المشاركة والتنسيق البيني، من أجل مواجهة التحديات الأمنية كافّة، وتعزيز قدرات تدخل القوات الأميركية في القارة الأفريقية
