The Egyptian President meets with the sheikhs and the elders of the Libyan tribes and confirms that the tribes will not stand by idly the movement of the forces of the “al-Wifāq” government towards Sirt continues.
Egyptian President ‘Abd al-Fattāḥ as-Sīsī said today, on Thursday that the sheiks of the Libyan tribes “will not sit idly by in case a military activity in Sirt”.
As-Sīsī added during his meeting with the sheikhs and the elders of the Libyan tribes that “the main aim for the Egyptian efforts in all levels towards Libya is to launch the free administration for the Libyan people for a better future for their country and the next generations”.
He continued: “We are capable to change the military situation in Libya in a rapid and decisive manner”.
The Egyptian President made it clear that “the red lines, which were declared before are in fact a call for peace and to end the struggle in Libya”, pointing out that “Egypt posses the strongest army in the region and in the African continent”.
As-Sīsī pointed out that “this righteous army will not commit aggression, nor raid. If we wish to take measures, we will ask approval from the Egyptian Parliament”.
As-Sīsī had announced that “crossing the line of Sirt and al-Ğufra in Libya are a red line for his country”, making it clear that “the Egyptian forces will move into Libya if the Libyans wish that”.
On his own term Deputy President of the Supreme Council of the Libyan Sheikhs and Elders as-Sunnūsī al-Ḥalīq said to the “Sputnik” agency that the tribes of Libya have “demanded Arab support aside from Egypt” and that Arab states stand in in line by the Egyptian and the Libyan forces “to liberate all the lands of Libya”.
He explained that the meeting with the Egyptian President aims to confirm “the demand of the Libyan Parliament to the Egyptian side to defend the national security of both countries”, confirming that the delegation of the sheikhs represent all the tribes of Libya, except some few areas and tribes in Miṣrāta and Western Libya”.
The Libyan House of Representatives had asked on Tuesday from Egypt “to intervene militarily to protect the national security of Egypt and Libya, in case it saw the danger eminently threatening the security of the two countries”.
On 9 July the Egyptian armed forces had performed a land and sea drill along the Libyan borders giving it the name “determination 2020” only a day after the Turkish naval forces performed a sea drill and called it “huge” along the Libyan shores.

وأضاف السيسي خلال لقائه بمشايخ وأعيان القبائل الليبية، أن “الهدف الأساسي للجهود المصرية علي كافة المستويات تجاه ليبيا، هو تفعيل الإرادة الحرة للشعب الليبي، من أجل مستقبل أفضل لبلاده وللأجيال القادمة
وتابع: “قادرون على تغيير المشهد العسكري في ليبيا بشكل سريع وحاسم
وأوضح الرئيس المصري أن “الخطوط الحمراء التي أعلنها من قبل هي بالأساس دعوة للسلام وإنهاء الصراع في ليبيا”، مشيراً إلى أن “مصر تمتلك أقوى جيش في المنطقة وقارة أفريقيا
السيسي أشار إلى أن “هذا الجيش رشيد لا يعتدي ولا يغزو وإذا أردنا اتخاذ إجراء سنلجأ للبرلمان المصري للموافقة
وكان السيسي أعلن أن “تجاوز خط سرت والجفرة في ليبيا خط أحمر بالنسبة لبلاده”، موضحاً أن “القوات المصرية ستتحرك إلى الداخل الليبي إذا طلب منها الليبيون ذلك
من جهته، قال نائب رئيس المجلس الأعلى لمشايخ وأعيان ليبيا السنوسي الحليق، لوكالة “سبوتنيك”، إن القبائل الليبية “تطالب بمساندة عربية إلى جانب مصر”، وأن تصطف الدول العربية إلى جانب القوات المصرية والليبية “لتحرير كامل التراب الليبي
وأوضح أن اللقاء مع الرئيس المصري، يهدف للتأكيد على “مطالبة البرلمان الليبي من الجانب المصري الدفاع عن الأمن القومي للبلدين”، مؤكداً أن وفد المشايخ يمثل كافة قبائل ليبيا، باستثناء بعض المناطق والقبائل القليلة في مصراتة والغرب الليبي
وكان مجلس النواب الليبي قد طالب، يوم الثلاثاء، مصر بـ”التدخّل العسكريّ لحماية الأمن القومي الليبي والمصري، إذا رأت أنّ خطراً وشيكاً يُهدّد أمن البلدين
