Algeria renounces the excesses in the Saharan region of al-Karkarāt [Guerguerat] and calls upon the Moroccan Kingdom and the Polisario Front to show a sense of responsibility and self-control.
Algeria condemned “strongly the horrendous excesses the Saharan region of al-Karkarāt [Guerguerat]“ and demanded “immediate ceasefire and cessation of the military activities, which in result may affect the stability of the whole region”.
The Algerian Foreign Ministry in its statement called upon “the Kingdom of Morocco and the Polisario Front to show a sense of responsibility and patience.”
It also asked, “the two sides to respect the number 1 military agreement the two signed with the U.N.”
It said: “We expect from the U.N. to precisely carry out its duty to be impartial and without any restriction and sanction. We urge the Secretary-General to appoint a personal representative as soon as possible to set the political negotiations into motion”.
The announcement by the Algerian Foreign Ministry comes after Morocco announced today morning the launch of a military operation in the region of al-Karkarāt in Western Sahara being under dispute with the “Polisario” Front. The Polisario responded considering that with the operation the ceasefire agreement created 30 years ago has ended and “the war has started”.
The announcement of the Moroccan Foreign Ministry today said “the operation comes after members of the “Polisario” Front since 21 October closed the highway on which mostly trucks are transporting goods from Morocco towards Mauritania and African countries south of the Sahara”.
The leadership of the Moroccan Armed Forces explained later that: “A security lockdown was initiated on the night from Thursday to Friday in order to secure the flow of goods and personals via the isolated al-Karkarāt region”.
The announcement published by the Moroccan Press Agency stressed that the operation “has no aggressive intention” and “takes place to overcome any excess against civilians, and so weapons would not be used, only lawful self-defense”.
In an article, the official spokesman of the government of “Western Sahara” said that: “today, on 13 November Friday 1 o’clock morning Morocco firmly announced to unitarily end of the ceasefire. This happened after a group of the civil forces attacked Saharan civilians peacefully protesting in front of the illegal al-Karkarāt entry point”.
The Saharan government announced that “the Moroccan army tried to open three entry points east of the one, which illegal in the al-Karkarāt region”.
The announcement said that at the same time its armed forces have surpassed what it called “the wall of humiliation and shame” close to the entry point in order to bypass and surround the region.
The announcement also explained that: “by this action was thwarted by the army of Saharan government and in sum, the battle has started and the was imposed on our people has flared up. By this, a new phase ace started in the struggle of our proud people, which is protecting if lawful right for freedom, dignity, and sovereignty”.
On the other hand, Mauritania called upon a ceasefire in Western Sahara.
At the same time Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric de la Rivière is the Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General said that: “Guterres regrets the failure of his attempts to surpass the escalation in Western Sahara and that he is deeply worried about the possible consequences of the recent events in the region”.
Dujarric added the “Guterres” is still committed to overcome the failure of the ceasefire holding for 30 years between Morocco and the Polisario Front”.

استنكرت الجزائر “بشدة الانتهاكات الجسيمة في منطقة الكركرات الصحراوية”، وطالبت “بوقف فوري لإطلاق النار، والعمليات العسكرية التي من المحتمل أن تؤثر نتائجها على استقرار المنطقة برمتها
ودعت وزارة الخارجية الجزائرية في بيان “المملكة المغربية وجبهة البوليساريو إلى إبداء الشعور بالمسؤولية وضبط النفس
كما دعت “الطرفين إلى احترام الاتفاقية العسكرية رقم 1 الموقعة بينهما مع الأمم المتحدة
وقالت: “نتوقع من الأمم المتحدة الإنجاز الدقيق لمهامها بحياد ومن دون قيود أو عقبات، ونناشد أمين عام الأمم المتحدة لتعيين مبعوث شخصي في أقرب وقت للاستئناف الفعال للمحادثات السياسية
يأتي بيان الخارجية الجزائرية بعد أن أعلن المغرب اليوم صباحاً إطلاق عملية عسكرية في منطقة الكركرات العازلة في الصحراء الغربية المتنازع عليها مع جبهة “البوليساريو”، وردّت الجبهة معتبرة أن العملية أنهت وقف إطلاق النار بين الجانبين المعمول به منذ 30 عاماً، وأن “الحرب بدأت
وقال بيان لوزارة الخارجية المغربية اليوم إن “العملية تأتي بعد إقفال أعضاء من جبهة “بوليساريو” منذ 21 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر، “الطريق الذي تمرّ منه خصوصاً شاحنات نقل بضائع من المغرب نحو موريتانيا وبلدان إفريقيا جنوب الصحراء
وأوضحت قيادة القوات المسلحة المغربية في وقت لاحق أنها “أقامت ليل الخميس الجمعة حزاماً أمنياً من أجل تأمين تدفق السلع والأفراد عبر المنطقة العازلة في الكركرات
وشددت في بيان نقلته وكالة الأنباء المغربية على أن العملية “ليست لها نوايا عدوانية”، و”تقوم على تجنب أي احتكاك مع أشخاص مدنيين وعدم اللجوء إلى استعمال السلاح إلا في حالة الدفاع الشرعي
في المقابل، قال الناطق الرسمي باسم حكومة “الصحراء الغربية” إنه “اليوم الجمعة 13 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر في الساعات الأولى من الفجر أقدمت المغرب على الإعلان نهائياً عن نسف وقف إطلاق النار وذلك بعد إقحامها مجموعة من القوات المدنية في هجوم على المدنيين الصحراويين المحتجين سلمياً أمام ثغرة الكركرات غير القانونية
وأعلنت الحكومة الصحراوية أن “الجيش المغربي أقدم على فتح ثلاث ثغرات شرق الثغرة التي غير الشرعية في منطقة الكركات
وجاء في البيان أنه في الوقت نفسه تجاوزت قواتها المسلّحة ما وصفته بـ”جدار الذل والعار” قرب الثغرة من أجل الالتفاف على المنطقة وتطويقها
كما أوضح البيان أن “هذا الفعل تصدّى له جيش الحكومة الصحراوية وبالمحصلة بدأت المعارك واندلعت الحرب المفروضة على شعبنا ومعها ولجنا مرحلة جديدة وحاسمة من كفاح شعبنا الأبي المدافع عن حقه المشروع في الحرية والكرامة والسيادة
هذا ودعت أيضاً موريتانيا إلى احترام وقف إطلاق النار في الصحراء الغربية
بالتزامن، قال المتحدث باسم الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة ستيفان دوجاريك إن “غوتيرش يأسف لفشل جهوده لتجنب التصعيد في الصحراء الغربية، وإنه يساوره قلق كبير حيال التداعيات المحتملة للتطورات الأخيرة في المنطقة
وأضاف دوجاريك أن “غوتيرش ما زال ملتزماً تجنب انهيار وقف إطلاق النار الساري بين المغرب وجبهة البوليساريو منذ 30 عاماً
