The Tunisian Prime Minister considers the crisis in the country real, “but the chaos is rejected”, and stresses to counter it with legal force.

Last night the demonstrations in Tunisia renewed between the police and the protestors for the fifth days in several Tunisian cities.

In the Tunisian capital Tunis, the clashes went on in the popular districts, like at-Taḍāmun and the as-Sīğūmī districts between the police and hundreds of young angry men, who burned car tires and closed down the roads.

In Sīdī Bū Zīd witnesses said to Reuters that the police fires gas to break up the protests, in which slogans were changed against the administration and protesters demanded to end the decades-long dismissal. There were also clashes between the police and the youth in the coastal city of Qala‘a aṣ-Ṣuġrā.

On the other hand, Tunisian Prime Minister Hišām al-Mašīšī pointed out yesterday, on Tuesday that the anger of the Tunisians is “rightful”, but he stressed that to counter the acts of aggression with force after the country saw 4 nights protests in the neglected neighborhoods, which suffer from a huge social crisis, which was exacerbated by the Corona pandemic.

Al-Mašīšī announced in a televised speech that: “The crisis is real, the anger is rightful and the protests are legal, but the chaos is rejected and we shall confront it with legal force”. Adding: “Your voice is heard and your anger is rightful. My role and role of the government is to make your demands a reality and a possible dream”.

Speaker of the Tunisian Parliament Rāšid al-Ġannūšī aired a call yesterday to the Tunisian people saying that he feels solidarity with their situation… he asked to refrain from destruction in the country and said that burning the institutions does not provide work and decent life.

The reporter al-Mayadeen pointed out that the present demonstrations demand the freedom of the detainees from the last protests”.

Tunisian President Qays Sa‘īd warned the youth not to be moved by any unnamed sides expressing support for them and stressing not to harm any people or properties.

During his visit to the ar-Rafāh district in al-Munayhila city in Aryāna province, Sa‘īd confirmed the rights of the Tunisian people for work, freedom, and dignity.

This all comes at a time in which several cities saw acts of violence and destruction while accusations are exchanged between the political parties about the agitation on the streets for political goals.
