The Wall Street Journal newspaper reveals “Israel” setting up a secret military base in the Western Desert of Iraq shortly before its war against Iran.

The Wall Street Journal newspaper reported that “Israel” set up a military base secretly in the Iraqi Western Desert shortly before the war against Iran broke out, and that had the aim of supporting its ai campaign against it.

According to the journalists this base was designed by the special forces and operated as a logistical hub for the Israeli air forces, while also included a search and rescue team prepared to extract pilots in case their planes crashed, pointing out that the base was set up with the approval of the United States, though without any direct involvement in it.

The secret base was almost revealed in the beginning of March, after an Iraqi herder noticed the unusual helicopter activity and informed the local authorities.

The newspaper mentioned that the Iraqi forces that were sent to investigate suffered Israeli airstrikes with the intention not to reveal the position and that what happened and according to Iraqi officials a soldier died and two other got wounded in the event.

In also pointed out that in the base Israeli special forces trained at operations were concentrated to form a jump point and forward bridgehead for sensitive air and land operations in the region.

The United States of America and “Israel” launched an operation against Iran on 28 February, which forced the Islamic Republic of Iran o respond with the operations of “True Promise 4” during which it targeted vital positions and targets within occupied Palestine and the American bases in the Gulf states.

صحيفة “وول ستريت جورنال” تكشف عن إنشاء “إسرائيل” قاعدة عسكرية سريّة في صحراء العراق قبيل حربها على إيران

أفادت صحيفة “وول ستريت جورنال”، بأن “إسرائيل” أنشأت قاعدة عسكرية بشكل سرّي في الصحراء العراقية قبيل اندلاع الحرب على إيران، وذلك بهدف دعم حملتها الجوية ضدها.

ووفقاً للصحيفة، ضمّت هذه القاعدة قوات خاصة، وعملت كمركز لوجستي لسلاح الجو الإسرائيلي، كما شملت فرق بحث وإنقاذ مُجهزة لانتشال الطيارين في حال أُسقطت طائراتهم، مشيرةً إلى أن القاعدة أُنشئت بعلم الولايات المتحدة، وإن لم يكن ذلك بتدخل مباشر منها

وكادت القاعدة السريّة أن تُكشف في أوائل آذار/مارس الماضي بعد أن لاحظ راعٍ عراقي نشاطاً غير معتاد للمروحيات، وأبلغ السلطات المحلية.

وذكرت الصحيفة أن القوات العراقية التي أُرسلت للتحقيق تعرضت لغارات جوية إسرائيلية بهدف منع اكتشاف الموقع، وهو ما أسفر، بحسب مسؤولين عراقيين، عن مقتل جندي وإصابة اثنين آخرين في الحادث.

كما أشارت إلى أنه تمركزت في القاعدة قوات خاصة إسرائيلية مُدرّبة على العمليات، لتشكل نقطة انطلاق وتأمين متقدمة للعمليات الجوية والبرية الحساسة في المنطقة.

وشنّت الولايات المتحدة الأميركية و”إسرائيل”، عدواناً على إيران في الـ28 من شباط/فبراير الماضي، ما دفع الجمهورية الإسلامية في إيران إلى الرد عبر عمليات “الوعد الصادق 4” التي استهدفت خلالها مواقع وأهدافاً حيوية داخل الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة،  والقواعد الأميركية في دول الخليج
