Tunisian President Qays Sa‘īd announces the dissolution of the Legislative Assembly and turns to those participating in the Virtual Legislative Assembly saying: “What they are doing is a blatant conspiracy against the security of the state”.
Tunisian President Qays Sa‘īd announced the dissolution of the Parliament and to hold legislative elections within 3 months.
Sa‘īd said while presiding over a meeting of the “National Security Council”: “Based on article 72 of the constitution I announce today in this historic moment the dissolution of the Legislative Assembly safeguarding the state and its institutions, and protecting the Tunisian people”.
The correspondent of al-Mayadeen in Tunisia reported that President Sa‘īd relied on a section in the constitution not stipulating the dissolution of the Parliament, pointing out that the Parliament according to the law continues its works until new elections are held.
Our correspondent pointed out that what happens in Tunisia is “a bone-breaking battle” between Sa‘īd and the representatives.
This happened hours after the threat by the MPs deciding to suspend the works of the Parliament and hold meetings via video conferences. During this, they voted on canceling the extraordinary measures announced by Sa‘īd in recent months.
The Tunisian President responded to the virtual meeting of the MPs saying: “If they wanted to break the country apart and spread dissent then the stars of the sky are closer to them from this”. Thus expressing that “what they are doing now is a blatant conspiracy against the security of the state”.
On their behalf, the local media said that the Tunisian Justice Minister requested the State Chief of Justice at the Supreme Court to open an investigation against MPs of the suspended Parliament under the charge of “conspiracy against the security of the state and forming a criminal accord” after they had a virtual meeting over the internet on Wednesday.
In the same context Tunisian writer and political analyst Kamāl ibn Yūnis said in an interview with al-Mayadeen: “All parties in Tunisia are part of the escalation and raising the limit of their demands”.
Ibn Yūnis believed that “Sa‘īd agreeing to the resolutions of the Parliament would have meant the condemning of the President”.
He pointed out that holding legislative elections within the months “is a request of the opposition”.
Yesterday Sa‘īd confirmed that his country enjoys internal and external sovereignty, thus pointing out that security forces and the state institutions will confront the attempts of those who are trying to push Tunisia into “internal fighting”.
Sa‘īd said during a meeting of the National Security Council that “the state was collapsing and the demands for the dissolution of the Parliament was everywhere. Therefore extraordinary measures were taken on 25 July”.
He described the attempts of the Tunisian Parliament to relaunch its activities and announce a general session for next Wednesday as a “step for coup and unlawful”.
Since the decree of President Qays Sa‘īd to hold extraordinary measures in the country in July last year the security forces closed down the Parliament. That was a step to lay out a roadmap for political reforms including a popular referendum and parliamentary elections at the end of this year.
Previously the Parliament held a general session in absentia with the participation of a number of MPs opposing the President, but it held no affect on his decisions regarding the political conditions in the country.

الرئيس التونسي قيس سعيّد يعلن حلّ المجلس النيابي، ويتوجّه إلى المشاركين في الجلسة النيابية الافتراضية قائلاً إنّ “ما يقومون به الآن هو تآمر مفضوح على أمن الدولة
أعلن الرئيس التونسي قيس سعيّد حلّ البرلمان وإجراء انتخابات تشريعية في ظرف 3 أشهر.
وقال سعيّد خلال ترؤسه اجتماعاً لـ”مجلس الأمن القومي”: “بناء على الفصل 72 من الدستور، أعلن اليوم، وفي هذه اللحظة التاريخية، حلّ المجلس النيابي، حفاظاً على الدولة وعلى مؤسساتها، وحفاظاً على الشعب التونسي”.
مراسل الميادين في تونس أفاد بأنّ الرئيس سعيّد اعتمد على فصل في الدستور لا ينص على حلّ البرلمان، مشيراً إلى أنّ البرلمان بحسب القانون يواصل أعماله حتى إجراء انتخابات جديدة.
وأشار مراسلنا إلى أنّ ما يجري في تونس هو “معركة كسر عظم” بين سعيّد والنواب.
جاء ذلك بعد ساعات من تحدّي نواب قرار تعليق أعمال المجلس وعقدهم جلسة عبر تقنية الفيديو، صوّتوا خلالها على إلغاء الإجراءات الاستثنائية التي أعلنها سعيّد في الأشهر الأخيرة.
وردّ الرئيس التونسي على الجلسة النيابية الافتراضية قائلاً: “إذا أرادوا تقسيم البلاد وزرع الفتنة فنجوم السماء أقرب لهم من ذلك”، معتبراً أنّ “ما يقومون به الآن هو تآمر مفضوح على أمن الدولة”.
من جهتها، قالت وسائل إعلام محلية إن وزيرة العدل التونسية طلبت من وكيل الدولة بمحكمة الاستئناف فتح تحقيق ضد نواب في البرلمان المعلّق بتهمة “التآمر على أمن الدولة وتكوين وفاق إجرامي” بعد عقدهم جلسة عبر الإنترنت اليوم الأربعاء.
وفي السياق، قال الكاتب والمحلل السياسي التونسي كمال بن يونس، في حديث إلى الميادين: “كل الأطراف في تونس يقومون بالتصعيد ويرفعون سقف مطالبهم”.
واعتبر بن يونس أنّ “موافقة سعيّد على قرارات البرلمان كانت ستعني إدانة للرئيس”.
ولفت إلى أنّ إجراء الانتخابات التشريعية في غضون ثلاثة أشهر هو “مطلب للمعارضة”.
ويوم أمس، أكد سعيّد أنّ بلاده تتمتع بسيادة خارجية وداخلية، مشيراً إلى أنّ القوات الأمنية والمؤسسات الوطنية ستصدّ مآرب من يحاول أن يوصل تونس إلى “الاقتتال الداخلي”.
وقال سعيّد خلال اجتماع مجلس الأمن القومي، إنّ “الدولة كانت تتهاوى، ومطالب حلّ مجلس النواب كانت في كل مكان. لذلك تم اتخاذ إجراءات استثنائية يوم الـ 25 من تموز/ يوليو الماضي”.
ووصف محاولات البرلمان التونسي استئناف نشاطه وإعلانه عقد جلسة عامة يوم الأربعاء المقبل بالخطوة “الانقلابية وغير القانونية”.
وأغلقت قوات الأمن البرلمان منذ قرار الرئيس قيس سعيّد اتخاذ تدابير استثنائية في البلاد في تموز/ يوليو الماضي، وهو ماضٍ في تطبيق خريطة طريق تمهيداً لإصلاحات سياسية، تتضمن إجراء استفتاء شعبي وانتخابات برلمانية نهاية العام الحالي.
وسبق للبرلمان أن نظّم جلسة عامة من بُعد، بمشاركة عدد من نوابه المعارضين للرئيس، لكن لا تأثير لقراراته في الوضع السياسي في البلاد
