The “Pentagon” points out that “some 10 missiles were fired from an area east of the Ayn al-Asad Base”, and says that “we haven’t been able to define who is responsible for the incident at this time”.
The American Department of Defense confirmed today, on Wednesday that: “the ‘Ayn al-Asad airbase in Iraq has suffered a missile attack today, Wednesday in the early morning hours”.
The Pentagon mentioned in a statement that: “the initial indications point to that some 10 missiles were fired from an area east of the base”. That statement had it that: “There are no reports on losses right now in the ranks of the American soldiers, while an American civilian contractor suffered a heart attack in a shock and died shortly after”.
The statement points out that: “The Iraqi security forces are present in the area of the incident and are investigating”. Adding that: “We can not define the responsibility for the incident and we haven’t got a complete picture about the damage occurred by the attack”.
The report also explained that: “the C-RAM air defense system of the base worked on the defense of the American forces”. According to the statement, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has already “studied the details of the incident and closely monitors the situation”.
Previously today a cell of the Iraqi war correspondents reported that 10 Grad type missiles fell on the ‘Ayn al-Asad Base”.
The ‘Ayn al-Asad Base is situated in the city of al-Baġdādī some 110 kilometers to the west of Baghdad. This is the most prominent, in which there are American troops present in Iraq.

وذكر “البنتاغون” في بيان أنّ “الدلائل الأولية تشير إلى أنّ حوالي 10 صواريخ أطلقت من مناطق شرق القاعدة”. وجاء في البيان أنه “لا توجد تقارير حالية عن إصابات في صفوف الجنود الأميركيين، فيما أصيب متعاقد مدني أميركي بنوبة قلبية أثناء اختبائه وتوفي بعد فترة وجيزة
وأشار البيان إلى أنّ “قوات الأمن العراقية موجودة في مكان الحادث وتقوم بالتحقيق”، مضيفاً أنه “لا يمكننا أن نحدد المسؤول عن الحادث في هذا الوقت، وليس لدينا صورة كاملة عن مدى الضرر الذي تسبب به الهجوم
