The Federal Supreme Council elected His Royal Highness aš-Šayh Muḥammad ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān president of the State of the United Arab Emirates.
The Council held a meeting in the al-Mašraf Palace in Abū Zabī led by His Royal Highness aš-Šayh Muḥammad ibn Rāšid Āl Maktūm, who is the Deputy President of the State, the Prime Minister, and the ruler of Dubai “May God guide him”.
The meeting was attended by His Royal Highness aš-Šayh Muḥammad ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān, His Royal Highness aš-Šayh dr. Sulṭān ibn Muḥammad al-Qāsimī, who is a member of the council and the ruler of aš-Šāriqa, His Royal Highness aš-Šayh Ḥamīd ibn Rāšid al-Nu‘aymī, who is a member of the council and the ruler of ‘Ağmān, His Royal Highness aš-Šayh Ḥamad ibn Muḥammad aš-Sarqī, who is a member of the council and the ruler of al-Fuğayra, His Royal Highness aš-Šayh Sa‘ūd ibn Rāšid al-Mu‘allā, who is a member of the council and the ruler of Umm al-Qaywayn, and His Royal Highness aš-Šayh Sa‘ūd ibn Ṣaqr al-Qāsimī, who is a member of the council and the ruler of Ra’s al-Hayma.
The statement issued by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs mentioned that in accordance with article 51 of the constitution His Royal Highness aš-Šayh Muḥammad ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān was elected in consent as president of the State of the United Arab Emirates following the late aš-Šayh Halīfa ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān.
The Royal Highnesses, members of the Federal Supreme Council confirmed their utmost commitment to be loyal to the legacy of the recently deceased, to his worthy values and principles that he carried on from the deceased founder aš-Šayh Zāyid ibn Sulṭān, May God keep his memory. These principles created a solid basis for the standing of the United Arab Emirates both regionally and internationally and strengthened its various national achievements.
The council expressed its full trust that the people of the Emirates will remain as Zāyid and other forefathers wanted them always guarding the union and its gains on all levels, asking God Almighty to lead His Royal Highness aš-Šayh Muḥammad ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān to success, leading his steps to serve his homeland and the people of the Emirates.
On his behalf, His Royal Highness aš-Šayh Muḥammad ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān expressed his gratitude for the utmost trust which was wrested upon him by his royal brothers and members of the Federal Supreme Council, the rulers of the Emirates. He also asked God Almighty to lead him to success and bless him while holding this huge and mighty responsibility and by this allow him to serve his homeland and the loyal people of the Emirates.

انتخب المجلس الأعلى للاتحاد بالإجماع صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، رئيساً لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة
وعقد المجلس اجتماعاً، السبت، في قصر المشرف بأبوظبي برئاسة صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي «رعاه الله
وحضر الاجتماع صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، وصاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي عضو المجلس الأعلى حاكم الشارقة، وصاحب السمو الشيخ حميد بن راشد النعيمي عضو المجلس الأعلى حاكم عجمان، وصاحب السمو الشيخ حمد بن محمد الشرقي عضو المجلس الأعلى حاكم الفجيرة، وصاحب السمو الشيخ سعود بن راشد المعلا عضو المجلس الأعلى حاكم أم القيوين، وصاحب السمو الشيخ سعود بن صقر القاسمي عضو المجلس الأعلى حاكم رأس الخيمة.
وذكر بيان صادر من وزارة شؤون الرئاسة، أنه تم بموجب المادة 51 من الدستور انتخاب صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، بالإجماع رئيساً لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة خلفاً للمغفور له فقيد الوطن الشيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان.
وأكد أصحاب السمو الشيوخ أعضاء المجلس الأعلى للاتحاد، حرصهم البالغ على الوفاء لما أرساه الراحل فقيد الوطن من قيم أصيلة ومبادئ استمدها من المؤسس المغفور له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان، طيب الله ثراه، والتي رسخت مكانة دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة على المستويين الإقليمي والعالمي وعززت إنجازاتها الوطنية المختلفة.
وأعرب المجلس عن ثقته التامة بأن شعب دولة الإمارات سيبقى كما أراده زايد والمؤسسون دوماً حارساً أميناً للاتحاد ومكتسباته على جميع المستويات، داعين الله عز وجل أن يوفق صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، ويسدد خطاه في خدمة وطنه وشعب الإمارات الكريم.
من جانبه أعرب صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، عن تقديره للثقة الغالية التي أولاه إياها إخوانه أصحاب السمو الشيوخ أعضاء المجلس الأعلى للاتحاد حكام الإمارات، راجياً المولى عز وجل أن يوفقه ويعينه على حمل مسؤولية هذه الأمانة العظيمة وأداء حقها في خدمة وطنه وشعب الإمارات الوفي
