At a session named “Towards a New Security Policy in the Middle East” at the Davos Forum, the Saudi Foreign Minister announces that certain progress has been reached with Iran and talked about a new period of cooperation between them.
The Reuters news agency cited Saudi Foreign Minister Fayṣal ibn Farḥān Āl Sa‘ūd saying: “Our arms are extended to Iran”.
In his statement at the session called “Toward a New Security Policy in the Middle East” within the works of the Davos Global Forum on Tuesday the Saudi Minister said: “In the kingdom and at the states of the [Gulf] Cooperation [Council] we concentrate on a future built on security and cooperation and our arms are open for all states, and to Iran”.
He continued: “Yet this needs an Iranian decision for cooperation and the context of a flourishing future and its strengthening”. Also adding that “there has been certain progress achieved with Iran, but not in a sufficient fashion”. Thus announcing the beginning of “a new period of cooperation serving the interests of all”.
As for the international negotiations with Tehran to revive the nuclear agreement the Saudi Foreign Minister said: “If we reached to revive the nuclear agreement that would be a good thing”.
The Saudi Foreign Minister talked about the recent elections in Lebanon, saying that “this might be a positive step, but it is still early to say that”.
Member of the Iranian National Security Committee in the Iranian Parliament Ğavād Karimī-Qodūsī announced that the Iranian Foreign Minister Ḥosseyn Amīr ‘Abdollahiyān will soon meet his Saudi colleague Fayṣal ibn Farḥān Āl Sa‘ūd in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
Qodūsī said that “preliminary agreements have been reached between Tehran and Riyadh”. Thus expressing that “this meeting will be a discussion about bilateral matters, opening of embassies, discussing the regional matters and especially the Yemeni crisis”.

في جلسة بعنوان “نحو سياسة أمنية جديدة في الشرق الأوسط”، في منتدى دافوس، وزير الخارجية السعودي يعلن تحقيق بعض التقدّم مع إيران، ويتحدث عن حقبة جديدة من التعاون بينهما
نقلت وكالة “رويترز” عن وزير الخارجية السعودي، فيصل بن فرحان آل سعود، قوله إن “أيدينا ممدودة إلى إيران”.
وفي تصريح له، في جلسة بعنوان “نحو سياسة أمنية جديدة في الشرق الأوسط”، ضمن أعمال منتدى دافوس العالمي، اليوم الثلاثاء، قال الوزير السعودي: “في المملكة ودول التعاون، نركز على مستقبل مبني على الأمن والتعاون، وأيدينا مفتوحة لجميع الدول، ولإيران”.
وتابع: “لكن هذا يحتاج إلى قرار إيراني بالتعاون وصياغة مستقبل مزدهر وتعزيزه”، مضيفاً أنه “تمّ تحقيق بعض التقدّم مع إيران، لكن ليس بصورة كافية”، معلناً بدء “حقبة جديدة من التعاون تصبّ في مصلحة الجميع”.
وفيما يتعلق بالمفاوضات الدولية مع طهران لإعادة إحياء الاتفاق النووي، قال وزير الخارجية السعودي: “إذا توصلنا إلى إحياء الاتفاق النووي، فسيكون أمراً جيداً”.
وتحدّث الوزير السعودي عن الانتخابات الأخيرة في لبنان، قائلاً إنها “قد تكون خطوة إيجابية، لكن من السابق لأوانه قول ذلك”.
وكان عضو لجنة الأمن القومي والسياسة الخارجية في مجلس الشورى الإسلامي، جواد كريمي قدوسي، أعلن أنّ وزير الخارجية الإيراني، حسين أمير عبد اللهيان، سيلتقي نظيره السعودي فيصل بن فرحان آل سعود، في العاصمة العراقية بغداد قريباً.
وقال قدوسي إنّه “تم التوصل إلى اتفاقات أولية بين طهران والرياض”، مبيّناً أنه “سيتم في هذا الاجتماع مناقشة القضايا الثنائية، وفتح السفارات، والبحث في القضايا الإقليمية، وخصوصاً الأزمة اليمنية
