The clashes between the protestors by the dwindling living conditions and the security forces are continuing in the city of Tripoli in Northern Lebanon today for the third consecutive day.
The reporter of al-Mayadeen confirmed that the protesters tonight, on Thursday tried to demolish the municipality building of Tripoli in Northern Lebanon, and fires were caused inside.
The clashes continued between the protestors by the dwindling living conditions and the security forces in the city of Tripoli in Northern Lebanon for the third consecutive day.
The protesters threw several Molotov cocktails in addition to hand grenades on the municipality causing the burn of a security member. The security forces of the Lebanese Interior Ministry responded by shooting teargas.
The clashes are ongoing for three days now, which led to the injury of more than 300 people, including more than 40 security officers. 13 of them got injured following hand grenades were thrown at them, and two suffered serious injuries.
Commissioned head of the government Sa‘ad al-Ḥarīrī said in one of his tweets that: “what happened in the city of Tripoli tonight is a huge and planned crime for which everyone holds responsibility, who aims to undermine the stability of the city, burn its institutions and municipality and occupy its streets with chaos.
Al-Ḥarīrī added: “Those, who carried out the burning of Tripoli are criminals, who don’t belong to the city and its people. They stabbed it in its security and dignity in the name of livelihood”.
Al-Ḥarīrī also wondered: “If there was a plan to introduce radicalism to the city, then who opened the door for that? How could a state allow this in the worst situation and most dangerous stage in Lebanon’s history?”
Lebanon is suffering from a serious economic crisis, which grew more severe after a popular protest broke out in October 2019. Then the Coronavirus and the blast at Beirut port last August happened.
The crisis met with a serious drop in the value of the national currency, while the country is without a government since the government of Ḥassān Diyāb resigned a few months ago.
Lebanon lives in a state of complete lockdown for roughly a month now because of the spread of the Coronavirus and the collapse of the healthcare system. The country until now has registered 290 thousand cases and 2553 deaths by the epidemic.

الصدامات بين محتجين على تدهور الأوضاع المعيشيّة والقوى الأمنيّة تستمر في مدينة طرابلس شمال لبنان لليوم الثالث على التوالي.
أكد مراسل الميادين، أن محتجين عمدوا مساء اليوم الخميس، إلى تحطيم مبنى بلدية طرابلس شمال لبنان، وإضرام النيران في داخله.
وتتواصل الصدامات بين محتجين على تدهور الأوضاع المعيشيّة والقوى الأمنيّة في مدينة طرابلس شمال لبنان، لليوم الثالث على التوالي.
لمحتجون ألقوا عدداً من قنابل المولوتوف إضافةً الى قنبلة يدويّة على باحة السرايا ما أسفر عن جرح عنصر أمنيّ، وردّت قوى الأمن الداخلي اللبناني بإطلاق القنابل المُسيّلة للدموع
الصدامات المستمرة منذ ثلاثة أيام، أسفرت عن إصابة أكثر من 300 شخص بينهم أكثر من 40 عنصراً أمنياً، منهم 13 عنصراً أصيبوا من جرّاء إلقاء قنابل يدويّة، بينهم إصابات بليغة.
رئيس الحكومة المكلف سعد الحريري قال في تغريدة له إن “ما حصل في مدينة طرابلس هذه الليلة جريمة موصوفة ومنظمة يتحمل مسؤوليتها كل من تواطأ على ضرب استقرار المدينة واحراق مؤسساتها وبلديتها واحتلال شوارعها بالفوضى
وأضاف الحريري: “الذين أقدموا على إحراق طرابلس مجرمون لا ينتمون للمدينة وأهلها وقد طعنوها في أمنها وكرامتها باسم لقمة العيش
كما تساءل الحريري: “إذا كان هناك من مخطط لتسلل التطرف إلى المدينة، فمن يفتح له الأبواب؟ وكيف للدولة أن تسمح بذلك في مرحلة من أسوأ وأخطر المراحل في تاريخ لبنان؟
ويعاني لبنان من أزمة اقتصاديّة حادة اشتدت بعد انطلاق الاحتجاجات الشعبيّة في تشرين الأوّل/أكتوبر 2019، ثمّ فيروس كورونا، وانفجار مرفأ بيروت في آب/أغسطس الماضي
الأزمة ترافقت مع انهيار حاد في قيمة العملة الوطنيّة، فيما لا تزال البلاد من دون حكومة بعد استقالة حكومة حسان دياب منذ أشهر
ويعيش لبنان حالياً في إغلاق تام منذ قرابة الشهر، بسبب تفشي كورونا وانهيار القطاع الطبي، حيث سجلّت البلاد حتى الآن 290 ألف إصابة و2,553 وفاة بالوباء
