The Iraqi authorities arrest 47 people under the charge of corruption, including MPs and officials. Prime Minister ‘Alī az-Zaydī confirms continuing the campaign under the rule of the law.

According to what high level sources told the Iraqi News Agency, the Iraqi Forces have arrested 47, accusing MPs and officials with charges linked to corruption and violations against the public wealth.
The sources confirmed that Prime Minister ‘Alī az-Zaydī will not be lenient about apprehending those involved in corruption, or in violations against the public wealth, pointing out that his campaign is going on and will extend and that the operation to apprehend those involved in corruption is continuing in the capital Baghdad and all other provinces.
According to the details, amongst the arrested there is President of the “Determination” Alliance and MP Mutannā as-Sāmirrā’ī, in addition to other MPs: Ziyān al-Ğannābī, Bahā’ an-Nūrī, Muḥammad al-Karbūlī and ‘Āliya Naṣīf. All of them facing corruption charges raised against them.
In the same context the Federal Transparency Organization announced that it is about to issue judicial arrest warrants against a number of those accused of violations against the public wealth, underlining that all measures taken are carried out with precision under the provisions and the oversight of the law.
The organization believed that this achievement came as a result of exceeding effort between the three branches of state power, the judiciary, the legislature and the executive branch together with the Organization of Transparency, within the frame of the current effort to curb down corruption and to protect the capabilities of the state.
Earlier the correspondent of al-Mayadeen in Baghdad quoted a high level source that the arrests came based on admissions given by the Secretary of the Oil Ministry, while the arrests included members of the parliament, whose constitutional immunity was lifted, but also officials, whose names came up during these confessions.
The Iraqi security forces in the early hours of Sunday started raiding the headquarters and the homes of a number of politician figures in the fortified “Green Zone” in the middle of the capital Baghdad that includes the governmental centers, the diplomatic compounds and the homes of high level officials.

اعتقلت السلطات العراقية 47 متهماً من نواب ومسؤولين بتهم تتعلق بالفساد والتجاوز على المال العام، وفق ما أفادت مصادر رفيعة لوكالة الأنباء العراقية.
وأكدت المصادر أنّ رئيس الوزراء، علي الزيدي، لن يتوانى عن ملاحقة الفاسدين والمتورطين في التجاوز على أموال الدولة، مشيرةً إلى أنّ حملته مستمرة وممتدة، وأنّ عمليات ملاحقة الفاسدين متواصلة في العاصمة بغداد والمحافظات كافة.
وبحسب التفاصيل، فإنّ من بين المعتقلين رئيس تحالف “عزم” عضو مجلس النواب مثنى السامرائي، إضافةً إلى أعضاء مجلس النواب: زياد الجنابي، وبهاء النوري، ومحمد الكربولي، وعالية نصيف، وذلك على خلفية تهم فساد وجهت إليهم
وفي السياق ذاته، أعلنت هيئة النزاهة الاتحادية أنها بصدد تنفيذ مذكرات القبض القضائية الصادرة بحق عدد من المتهمين بالتجاوز على المال العام، مشددةً على أنّ جميع إجراءاتها المتخذة تجري بدقة بموجب أحكام القانون وتحت مظلته.
واعتبرت الهيئة أنّ هذا الإنجاز جاء ثمرةً لتضافر الجهود بين السلطات الثلاث، القضائية والتنفيذية والتشريعية مع هيئة النزاهة، في إطار المساعي الجارية للحد من الفساد وحماية مقدرات الدولة.
وسبق أن نقل مراسل الميادين في بغداد عن مصدر رفيع، أن الاعتقالات جاءت بناءً على اعترافات أدلى بها وكيل وزارة النفط، حيث شملت الاعتقالات أعضاءً في مجلس النواب رُفعت عنهم الحصانة الدستورية، بالإضافة إلى مسؤولين وردت أسماؤهم في تلك الاعترافات
وكانت القوات الأمنية العراقية قد بدأت، في وقت مبكر اليوم الأحد، بمداهمة مقرات ومنازل عدد من الشخصيات السياسية في “المنطقة الخضراء” المحصنة وسط العاصمة بغداد، والتي تضم مقار حكومية وبعثات دبلوماسية ومنازل مسؤولين رفيعي المستوى
