The Iraqi Ministry of Defense says that the bombardment that targeted the “ ‘Arbat” airport in the area of as-Sulaymāniyya and killed 3 members of the anti-terrorist service means a breach of the sovereignty of Iraq, its security, and its territorial integrity.

On Tuesday the Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced the killing of 3 members of the Anti-Terrorist Service and the injury of 3 others following the attack targeting the ‘Arbat airport in the area of as-Sulaymaniyya that happened on Monday by the use of a drone.
Official spokesman of the Iraqi Army Yaḥyā Rasūl in a statement said: “A drone entered the Iraqi airspace via the borders with Türkiye and bombarded the ‘Arbat airport in as-Sulaymāniyya Province in Iraqi-Kurdistan Region on Monday. That led to the martyrdom of 3 heroes of the Anti-Terrorist Service and the injury of 3 others”.
Rasūl added: “This aggression is a breach of Iraq’s sovereignty, its security, and its territorial integrity and constitutes a disruption and threat to the safety and security in the region and around the world violating the international decrees and the principles of the UN Charter and its amendments”.
He confirmed that “these repeated aggressions contradict the principles of good neighborly relations between the states and threaten to undermine the efforts of Iraq to build good and balanced political, economic and security relations with its neighbors”.
According to the statement, the spokesman of the Iraqi Army confirmed that “Iraq sustains its right to put an end to these violations”.
On Tuesday a high-ranking Iraqi military official told Agence France Press that the drone that killed three members of the Anti-Terrorist [Service] in [Iraqi-]Kurdistan Region entered the airspace of Iraq from Türkiye, renouncing the “the repeated aggressions that don’t conform with the principles of good neighborly relations between the states”.
In April the Security Directorate of the as-Sulaymāniyya International Airport in Iraq confirmed an explosion close to the perimeter wall of the as-Sulaymāniyya Airport causing a fire to break out, but not causing casualties.
The Iraqi Presidency demanded Türkiye to issue an apology for what it described as a Turkish bombardment against the as-Sulaymāniyya airport in Northern Iraq, saying that “the Turkish government must cease its acts of aggression” against Iraqi lands.

أعلنت وزارة الدفاع العراقية، اليوم الثلاثاء، مقتل 3 من جهاز مكافحة الإرهاب وإصابة 3 آخرين من جراء قصف استهدف مطار “عربت” في منطقة السليمانية يوم أمس باستخدام طائرة مسيرة.
وقال المتحدث باسم الجيش العراقي يحيى رسول في بيان: “قامت طائرة مسيرة بدخول الأجواء العراقية عبر الحدود مع تركيا، وقصفت مطار عربت في محافظة السليمانية في إقليم كردستان العراق يوم أمس الاثنين، ما أدى إلى استشهاد 3 من أبطال جهاز مكافحة الإرهاب وإصابة 3 آخرين”.
وأضاف رسول: “هذا العدوان يشكل انتهاكاً لسيادة العراق وأمنه وسلامة أراضيه، ويمثل إخلالاً وتهديداً للسلام والأمن في المنطقة والعالم، وخرقاً لأحكام القانون الدولي، وانتهاكاً لمبادئ ميثاق الأمم المتحدة ومقاصده”.
وأكد أنّ “هذه الاعتداءات المتكررة لا تتماشى مع مبدأ علاقات حسن الجوار بين الدول، وتهدد بتقويض جهود العراق في بناء علاقات سياسية واقتصادية وأمنية طيبة ومتوازنة مع جيرانه”.
وأكد المتحدث باسم الجيش العراقي، بحسب البيان، أن “العراق يحتفظ بحقه لوضع حد لهذه الخروقات”.
وقال مسؤول عسكري عراقي كبير لـ”فرانس برس”، اليوم الثلاثاء، إنّ الطائرة المسيّرة التي قتلت ثلاثة من عناصر مكافحة الإرهاب في إقليم كردستان، دخلت الأجواء العراقية من تركيا، مندداً بـ”اعتداءات متكررة لا تتماشى مع مبدأ علاقات حسن الجوار بين الدول”.
وفي نيسان/أبريل الفائت، أكدت مديرية أمن مطار السليمانية الدولي في العراق وقوع انفجار قرب سور مطار السليمانية تسبّب باندلاع حريق من دون وقوع إصابات.
وطالبت الرئاسة العراقية تركيا على إثره بالاعتذار عما وصفته بالقصف التركي لمطار السليمانية في شمال العراق، قائلةً إنّ “على الحكومة التركية وقف الأعمال العدائية” على الأراضي العراقية
