International arrest warrant was issued against former Tunisian President al-Munṣif al-Marzūqī after statements considered to be threat against national security.
In Tunis the correspondent of al-Mayadeen reported the issue of an international arrest warrant against former Tunisian President al-Munṣif al-Marzūqī.
Our correspondent pointed out that the international arrest warrant against al-Marzūqī came in result of some statement considered to be threat against national security.
In a Facebook post al-Marzūqī commented this saying “one day I came out of the Carthage Palace to my home full with dignity after the name of Tunisia and its revolution in all international forums. After I defended the rights, the liberties and guarded the public wealth and tried all I could for all Tunisians… I armed the army… I restored some of the stolen wealth… this third doctor, by whom Tunisia is plagued brags accusing me with treason!”
It should be remembered that Tunisian President Qays Sa‘īd said last month that he will revoke the diplomatic passport from former Tunisian President al-Munṣif al-Marzūqī “after his demand for France to cease its aid to the Tunisian regime”, according to what was reported by the Reuters agency.
While participating in a cabinet meeting Sa‘īd asked Minister of Justice Laylā Ğafāl Fatḥ for a judicial investigation about the statements of al-Marzūqī, saying that “there is no room for conspiracy against the state security internally or abroad”. Thus pointing out the “refusal of putting the Tunisian sovereignty on any foreign negotiations table”.
Responding to the decision of President Sa‘īd al-Marzūqī said “I am not interested by any decision issued by the Tunisian authorities against me”, considering that the Tunisian government “is illegal”.
Al-Marzūqī, who held the presidency between 2011 and 2014, in a debate with the French media said that he “is proud by intention of the French officials to cancel the Francophone summit in Tūnis”, believing that organizing it in a county, which is witnessing what he called “a coup” is “a support for dictatorship and oppression”, according to his statements.

وأشارت مراسلتنا إلى أن بطاقة الجلب بحق المرزوقي جاءت على خلفية تصريحات اعتُبرت تهديداً لأمن الدولة
وعلّق المرزوقي، في منشور في فيسبوك، قائلاً “خرجت يوماً من قصر قرطاج إلى بيتي معزَّزاً مكرَّماً، بعد أن رفعت اسم تونس وثورتها في كل المحافل الدولية، وبعد أن حميت الحقوق والحريات وحافظت على المال العام، وحاولت ما استطعت جمع التونسيين… وسلّحت الجيش… واسترجعت قسماً من الأموال المنهوبة… وهذا الدكتاتور الثالث الذي ابتُليت به تونس يتجاسر على اتهامي بالخيانة!”.
يُذكَر أن الرئيس التونسي قيس سعيّد قال، الشهر الماضي، إنه سيسحب جواز السفر الدبلوماسي من الرئيس التونسي السابق المنصف المرزوقي “بعد مطالبته فرنسا بوقف مساعدتها للنظام التونسي”، وفق ما نقلته وكالة “رويترز
وخلال مشاركته في اجتماع مجلس الوزراء، طلب سعيّد من وزيرة العدل ليلى جفال فتح تحقيق قضائي في تصريحات المرزوقي، قائلاً إن “لا مجال للتآمر على أمن الدولة الداخلي أو الخارجي”، مشدّداً على “رفض وضع السيادة التونسيّة على طاولة أيّ مفاوضات أجنبيّة
وفي ردٍّ على قرار الرئيس سعيّد، قال المرزوقي “أنا غير معنِيٍّ بأيِّ قرار يصدر عن السلطات التونسية ضدّي”، معتبراً أن الحكومة التونسية “غير شرعية
وكان المرزوقي، الذي تولى رئاسة الجمهورية بين عامي 2011 و2014، قال في حوار مع وسائل إعلام فرنسية إنه “يفتخر بسعيه لدى المسؤولين الفرنسيين لإفشال عقد قمة الفرنكوفونية في تونس”، باعتبار أن تنظيمها في بلد يشهد ما سمّاه “انقلاباً”، هو “تأييد للدكتاتورية والاستبداد”، على حدِّ تعبيره.
