On her own side, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi in a Twitter comment said that “we follow closely the situation in Baghdad, our diplomats, officials and our embassy deserve protection from the Iraqi government and also reliance on a smart and strong strategy for national security by the American leaders. The escalation and the aggression have to stop.”
Member of the Committee on Foreign Relations in the US Senate, the Democrat Ed Markey callee the Trump administration to “exercise the upmost effort to ease the tension in the region, which was the reason behind the siege of the embassy”, adding that “it is unacceptable for us from Trump and his hawkish advisors to bring us to a wider crisis. The policies of this administration towards Iran has failed and Trumps approaches and methods contributed to a risky gamble.”
Democrat Senator Chris Murphy affirmed that the attack “on our embassy in Baghdad is a horrid matter, but expected. Trump transformed the United States to an incapable state in the Middle East. No one fears us and no one listens to us.” That is what his Democrat colleague, Tim Keane affirmed as well, who said that “Trumps malpractices in the region makes us less safe. It is time for the Congress to stop this stupid drifting towards war.”
Also the Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff expressed his worry from “the aggression on our embassy in Baghdad by protestors and militias being supported by Iran.”

مسؤولون أميركيون يعلّقون على الاحتجاجات التي شهدها محيط السفارة الأميركية في بغداد اليوم؛ إعراب عن القلق، وانتقادات لسياسات الرئيس دونالد ترامب في الشرق الأوسط
علقّ عددٌ من المسؤولين الأميركيين على الاحتجاجات التي شهدها محيط السفارة الأميركية في بغداد اليوم الثلاثاء، وقالت المتحدثة باسم البيت الابيض أن الاحتجاجات تعدُّ تصعيداً، مشيرةً إلى أن الرئيس دونالد ترامب هو من سيختار كيف ومتى سيرد على هذا التصعيد
من جهتها، قالت رئيسة مجلس النواب الأميركي نانسي بيلوسي في تغريدة على تويتر “نراقب الوضع عن كثب في بغداد، يستحق دبلوماسيونا وموظفونا وسفارتنا الحماية من الحكومة العراقية، وكذلك اعتماد استراتيجية ذكية وقوية للأمن القومي من قبل القادة الأميركيين، التصعيد والعنف يجب أن ينتهي
ودعا عضو لجنة العلاقات الخارجية في مجلس الشيوخ الأميركي الديمقراطي إد ماركي، إدارة ترامب إلى “بذل أقصى الجهود لتخفيف التوتر في المنطقة الذي كان السبب وراء هذا الحصار للسفارة”، مضيفاً أنه “من غير المقبول لنا السماح لترامب ومستشاريه الصقور جرّنا لأزمة أوسع، سياسة هذه الإدارة نحو إيران فشلت وتوجهات ترامب وتقلباته أسهمت في التحدي الراهن
أما السيناتور الديمقراطي كريس ميرفي، فأكد أن الهجوم “على سفاراتنا في بغداد أمرٌ مروع ولكنّه متوقع، لقد حوّل ترامب الولايات المتحدة إلى دولة عاجزة في الشرق الأوسط لا أحد يخافنا ولا أحد يستمع إلينا”، وهذا ما أكده زميله الديمقراطي تيم كين، الذي قال إن “سوء تصرف ترامب في المنطقة يجعلنا أقل أمانًا. حان الوقت للكونغرس لوقف هذا الاندفاع الأحمق نحو الحرب
كذلك أعرب رئيس لجنة الاستخبارات في مجلس النواب آدم شيف، عن قلقه من “اقتحام سفارتنا في بغداد من قبل المتظاهرين والميليشيات التي تدعمها إيران
