According to the Associated Press translated by the New Gulf, an Egyptian intelligence official said that Cairo, which is many times acting as a mediator between Israel and the Ḥamās Movement, warned the Israelis many times about “something big” that might happen, but they wouldn’t listen to this warning.

Former National Security Adviser to Netanyahu Yakov Amidror said “This is a huge failure. These operations indeed prove that the (intelligence” capabilities in Gaza were not good” and called for “learning the lessons”.

قال مسؤول في الاستخبارات المصرية إن القاهرة، التي تعمل في كثير من الأحيان كوسيط بين إسرائيل وحركة حماس، حذرت الإسرائيليين مرارا وتكرارا من “شيء كبير” ربما يحدث، لكنهم لم يستمعوا لهذا التحذير، بحسب تقرير لوكالة “أسوشيتدبرس” ترجمه “الخليج الجديد“.
وبرا وجوا وبحرا، أطلقت حركة “حماس” وفصائل أخرى من قطاع غزة فجر السبت الماضي هجوما مباغتا وضخما ضد إسرائيل باسم “طوفان الأقصى”؛ ردا على الاعتداءات الإسرائيلية المتواصلة بحق الشعب الفلسطيني وممتلكاته ومقدساته، لاسيما المسجد الأقصى بمدينة القدس الشرقية المحتلة.
المسؤول المصري، الذي تحدث للوكالة شريطة عدم الكشف عن هويته، مضى قائلا: “حذرناهم (الإسرائيليين) من أن انفجارا للوضع قادم، وقريبا جدا، وسيكون كبيرا.. لكنهم قللوا من شأن هذه التحذيرات”.

ولفتت الوكالة إلى أن “حكومة (رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين) نتنياهو (يمين متطرف) تتكون من أنصار المستوطنين اليهود في الضفة الغربية، الذين طالبوا بحملة أمنية في مواجهة موجة العنف المتزايدة هناك خلال الأشهر الثمانية عشر الماضية”.
وبموازاة المواجهة العسكرية المستمرة، تعيش إسرائيل، شعبا وحكومة، في صدمة وغضب شديدين بعد أن فشلت كل الأجهزة الاستخباراتية الإسرائيلية في توفير معلومات مسبقة عن هجوم “حماس”، الذي لابد وأن الإعداد له استلزم عدم أشهر، وفقا لتقارير إعلامية إسرائيلية.
ورد الجيش الإسرائيلي على هجوم “حماس” بإطلاق عملية “السيوف الحديدية”، ويواصل شن غارات مكثفة على مناطق عديدة في غزة؛ ما أدى إلى استشهاد 560 فلسطينيا وإصابة 2900، وفقا لوزارة الصحة الفلسطينية.

“ويلقي هجوم حماس بظلال من الشك على سمعة إسرائيل، ويثير تساؤلات حول مدى استعداها لمواجهة عدو أضعف ولكنه حازم”، كما أردفت الوكالة.
وتابعت أنه “بعد أكثر من 48 ساعة، يواصل مقاتلو حماس قتال القوات الإسرائيلية داخل الأراضي الإسرائيلية (فلسطين المحتلة)، كما بات العشرات من الإسرائيليين محتجزين لدى حماس في غزة”.
وقال ياكوف أميدرور، مستشار الأمن القومي السابق لنتنياهو، إن “هذا فشل كبير.. وهذه العملية تثبت فعليا أن القدرات (الاستخباراتية) في غزة لم تكن جيدة”، داعيا إلى “تعلم الدروس”.
