The Americans informed all opposers of the decision of appointing Qāsim as the commander of the faction, to prepare to leave the area with their families.
The commander of the “Ğayš al-Maġāwīr” militia, Farīd Qāsim received the official appointment from the American Central Command to his post on Tuesday.
Qāsim held his first meeting for the military council of the “Ğayš al-Maġāwīr” in the headquarters of the at-Tanaf Base at the Syrian-Jordanian-Iraqi triple border after a series of American pressures sweeping aside a wave of oppositions against the decision to remove the former commander of the organization Muhannad aṭ-Ṭalā‘ and appoint Farīd Qāsim in his stead.
The sources of al-Mayadeen confirmed on Tuesday that “the International Coalition Command in the at-Tanaf region took the headquarters of the Military Council of the Ğayš al-Maġāwīr within the base, while at the same time helicopters were cruising in the skies of the area”.
The sources made it clear that “the Americans informed all opposers of the decision to appoint Qāsim as commander of the faction to prepare to leave the area with their families”.
The sources pointed out that “the American pressures mounted on the members of the military council of the Ğayš al-Maġāwīr to accept the decision and the American officers themselves led the operation to administer Qāsim in the first council meeting under his presidency”.
The website of the Ğayš al-Maġāwīr at-Tawra posted a video about American officers at the at-Tanaf Base congratulating Qāsim for officially taking his position, while they confirmed “the support of Washington to his command over the faction and to improve the service realities overall in the “55 kilometers region” in the Syrian Desert”.
The American forces founded the “Ğayš al-Maġāwīr” from the remnants of the “New Army of Syria” after it secured a base in the at-Tanaf region in 2016 and expelled “Dā‘iš” from the region known as 55 kilometers. This base is intended to monitor the Damascus-Baghdad-Tehran highway.

وأكّدت مصادر الميادين، اليوم الثلاثاء، أنّ “قيادة التحالف الدولي في منطقة التنف حاصرت مقرّ المجلس العسكري للمغاوير داخل القاعدة، بالتزامن مع تحليق المروحيات في أجواء المنطقة
وبيّنت المصادر أنّ “الأميركيين أبلغوا كافة المعترضين على قرار تعيين قاسم قائداً للفصيل، بالتجهّز لمغادرة المنطقة مع عوائلهم
ولفتت المصادر الى أنّ “الضغوطات الأميركية أرغمت أعضاء المجلس العسكري للمغاوير بالقبول بالقرار، وأدار الضباط الأميركيون بأنفسهم عملية إدارة القاسم أول اجتماع للمجلس برئاسته
وكانت صفحة “جيش مغاوير الثورة” بثت فيديو، لمباركة ضابط أميركي من “قاعدة التنف” للقاسم تسلّمه مهامه رسمياً، مع تأكيده على “دعم واشنطن لقيادته للفصيل، وتحسين الواقع الخدمي في عموم منطقة الـ55 كم في البادية السورية
وأسست القوات الأميركية “جيش المغاوير” من بقايا فصائل “جيش سوريا الجديد” بعد تثبيت قاعدة في منطقة التنف في العام 2016، وطرد “داعش” من المنطقة المعروفة بمنطقة 55 كم، والتي تهدف لمراقبة طريق دمشق/بغداد/ طهران
