Former President of the Global Union of Islamic Scholars aš-Šayh Yūsaf al-Qaradāwī passes away at the age of 96.
On Monday Former President of the Global Union of Islamic Scholars aš-Šayh Yūsaf al-Qaradāwī passed away.
The death was announced in a statement published in his official newspaper, which stated: “He has moved on to the grace of God, His Excellency Imām Yūsaf al-Qaradāwī God rest his soul, who dedicated his life to revealing the verdicts of Islam, defending his nation”.
The statement added: “He lost his existence today at noon and the date of his funeral and the place of the mourning will be announced later”.

It should be mentioned that aš-Šayh al-Qaradāwī was born in the village of Ṣafṭ Turāb in the Western Province of Egypt on 9 September 1926. He had headed the Global Union of Islamic Scholars for several years.
He was among the leading jurisprudence scholars around the Islamic world and was a scholar of the Egyptian al-Azhar.
Al-Qaradāwī belonged to the Muslim Brotherhood Group and later became one of its known leaders, while also considered one of the first organizers of the group. He was offered the title of Supreme Leader several times, but he refused.
In 2008 al-Qaradāwī was second on the list of the 20 most influential thinkers around the world according to the “Foreign Policy” and “Prospect” magazines.
Al-Qaradāwī had more than 170 publications and he also participated in a large number of conferences, forums, and television programs during his media and propagation carrier.

انطلقت تظاهرات حاشدة في طهران ومدن إيرانية، اليوم الجمعة، رافعةً شعارات داعمة للجمهورية الإسلامية ورافضة لأعمال الشغب
ودعت إلى هذه التظاهرات منظمة حكومية تأييداً لوضع الحجاب، بعد أيام من احتجاجات على وفاة الشابة مهسا أميني التي أوقفتها “شرطة الأخلاق”، ودخلت في غيبوبة قبل أن تتوفى في ظروف لم تتضح بعد
وفي وقت سابق اليوم، علّق الجيش الإيراني على الاحتجاجات وأعمال الشغب التي شهدتها مناطق عدة، قائلاً إنّ “هذه الإجراءات النّاجمة عن اليأس هي استراتيجيّة خبيثة للأعداء، هدفها إضعاف مكانة النظام الإسلامي ووحدة الشعب”، مؤكداً استعداده للتّصدي “لمختلف المؤامرات التي يحوكها الأعداء
وبالتوازي، أعلنت قيادة قوى الأمن الداخلي في محافظة غيلان شمال البلاد “اعتقال 211 عنصراً من مثيري الشغب”، وتحويلهم إلى القضاء المختص.
وكانت وكالة “إرنا” الإيرانية ذكرت قبل يومين أنّ 4 من ضباط الشرطة أصيبوا وتوفي مساعد شرطة متأثراً بجراحه التي أصيب بها يوم الثلاثاء في مدينة شيراز الجنوبية، في أعقاب احتجاجات واشتباكات مع الشرطة
