The Election Committee announced the names of the 7 candidates whom the Guardian Council approved to take part in the country’s presidential elections. Here is a short glimpse of the candidates’ life stories.
The Election Committee in Iran announced the final list of Iranian presidential election candidates. There are seven candidates and the Guardian Council approved their eligibility to part in the county’s presidential elections.
The spokesman of the Guardian Council in Iran, ‘Abbās Kathodā’ī announced that the names of the seven candidates were handed over to the Interior Ministry, who were granted eligibility by the Guardian Council. Here is a short overview of the life stories and deeds of the candidates.
Ebrāhīm Ra’īsī
He has reached the age of 61. He is from the city of Mašhad, has a Ph.D. in religious jurisprudence, and has previously worked in the following positions: Prosecutor General of Tehran, Director of the General Inspections Authority in Iran, and First Deputy of the Judicial Authority’s President. He is currently the President of the Judicial Authority.
Moḥsen Reẓā‘ī
He is 67 years old. He is from Hozestān Province. He holds a Ph.D. in economics. He is one of the founding members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. He led the Revolutionary Guards in the difficult period of the eight years-long war [with Iraq]. He led military academies. Currently, he works as Secretary of the Expediency Council and has several experiences with the elections in the years 1999, 2005, 2009, and 2013.
‘Alī-Reẓā Zākānī
He is 56 years old. He is from Tehran. He holds a Ph.D. in cellular medicine and has been an MP for three terms. Currently, he is a member of the Parliament and Director of the Parliament’s Research Center.
Moḥsen Mehr ‘Alīzāde
He is 65 years old. He is from Eastern Azerbaijan Province. He has a Ph.D. in engineering. He worked in the following positions: Governance of the Nuclear Stations Matters in the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency, president of the international association for zūrhāne [traditional Iranian sport] games, member of the governing board for the free trade zone in Kīš, governor of Horāsān Province under President Hātamī, governor of Esfahan under President Rōḥānī, worked for car producing companies boards and later worked as Deputy of the Industry Minister.
Sa‘īd Ğalīlī
He is 56 years old. He holds a Ph.D. in Islamic science and political science. He worked as inspector general on the Foreign Ministry then Director of the America Branch. Later he was the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council and Chief Negotiator with the Western countries. He is a former presidential candidate, gained 4 million votes and became the third after President Ḥasan Rōḥānī and Moḥammad Bāqer Qalībāf in the 2013 elections.
Amīr Qāẓīzāde Hāšemī
He is 50 years old. He was born in Horāsān Province. He holds a Ph.D. in medicine. He has previously worked in the following positions: Principal of Semnān University for Medical Sciences, member of the 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th parliaments. He is currently Deputy Speaker of the House.
‘Abd an-Nāṣer Hemmatī
He is 63 years old. He was born in Hamedān Province west of the capital Tehran. He holds a Ph.D. in economics and currently works and Governor of the Iranian Central Bank. He had previously worked in the following positions: Director General for the news section in IRNA, special envoy to China for a few weeks, implementation director at the Bank-e Mellī-ye Irān (Iran’s National Bank), and Director of the Central Insurance Bureau.
The spokesman of the Guardian Council yesterday, Monday announced that the council ended the inspection of the candidates’ eligibility.
The gates for registering the candidacy requests for the 13th Iranian Presidential elections started on 11 May and lasted for 5 days, after the Guardian Council outlined the requirements needed for the candidacy.

لجنة الانتخابات في إيران تعلن أسماء 7 مرشحين أكّد مجلس صيانة الدستور أهليتهم لخوض الانتخابات الرئاسية في البلاد. فيما يلي موجز عن السِّيَر الذاتية للمرشحين
أعلنت لجنة الانتخابات في إيران القائمةَ النهائية لمرشحي الانتخابات الرئاسية الإيرانية، وهم 7 مرشحين، أكّد مجلس صيانة الدستور أهليتهم لخوض الانتخابات الرئاسية في البلاد
وأعلن المتحدث باسم مجلس صيانة الدستور في إيران، عباس كدخدائي، أنه تمّ تسليم أسماء المرشحين السبعة، الذين مُنحوا الأهلية من جانب مجلس صيانة الدستور، إلى وزارة الداخلية. وفيما يلي نبذة عن السِّيَر الذاتية والعملية للمرشحين:
إبراهيم رئيسي
يبلغ من العمر 61 عاماً. ينحدر من مدينة مشهد، وحاصل على الدكتوراه في الفقه، وشغل سابقاً المناصب التالية: المدّعي العام في طهران؛ منصب رئيس دائرة التفتيش العامة في إيران؛ المساعد الأول لرئيس السلطة القضائية. وهو حالياً رئيس السلطة القضائية
محسن رضائي
يبلغ من العمر 67 عاماً، وينحدر من محافظة خوزستان، وحاصل على شهادة الدكتوراة في الاقتصاد. من مؤسِّسي حرس الثورة الإيراني. قاد حرس الثورة في مرحلة صعبه من حرب السنوات الثماني. ترأّس جامعات عسكرية. ويشغل حالياً منصب أمين مجلس تشخيص مصلحة النظام، وخاض عدة تجارب انتخابية في اعوام 1999 و2005 و2009 و2013
علي رضا زاكاني
يبلغ من العمر 56 عاماً. من مدينة طهران، وحاصل على الدكتوراه في الطب الذَّري، وعضو مجلس الشورى لثلاث دورات. وحالياً هو عضو المجلس، ورئيس مركز البحوث في المجلس
محسن مهرعليزاده
يبلغ من العمر 65 عاماً. ينحدر من محافظة أذربيجان الشرقية. حاصل على الدكتوراه في الهندسة، وشغل المناصب التالية: مديرية شؤون المحطات النووية في الوكالة الإيرانية للطاقة الذرية؛ رئيس الاتحاد الدولي للعبة الزورخانة الرياضية؛ عضو مجلس إدارة منظمة المنطقة الحرة في كيش؛ محافظ خراسان في عهد الرئيس خاتمي؛ محافظ أصفهان في عهد الرئيس روحاني. وعمل في إدارة شركات إنتاج السيارات، ثم شغل منصب معاون وزير الصناعة
سعيد جليلي
يبلغ من العمر 56 عاماً. حاصل على دكتوراه في المعارف الإسلامية والعلوم السياسية، عمل مسؤول التفتيش في وزارة الخارجية، ثم مسؤول دائرة أميركا، ثم أمين المجلس الأعلى للأمن القومي الإيراني، ومسؤول فريق التفاوض مع الدول الغربية. مرشح سابق للانتخابات الرئاسية، وحصل على 4 ملايين صوت، وحل ثالثاً بعد الرئيس حسن روحاني ومحمد باقر قاليباف، في انتخابات 2013
أمير قاضي زاده هاشمي
يبلغ من العمر 50 عاماً. من مواليد محافظة خراسان. حاصل على شهادة الدكتوراه في الطب. شغل سابقاً المناصب التالية: مدير جامعة سمنان للعلوم الطبية؛ عضو في مجلس الشورى في دوراته 8 و9 و10 و11. وهو حالياً نائب رئيس مجلس الشورى
عبد الناصر همتي
يبلغ من العمر 63 عاماً. وُلد في محافظة همدان غربي العاصمة طهران. حاصل على شهادة الدكتوراه في الاقتصاد، ويشغل حالياً منصب حاكم البنك المركزي الإيراني. شغل سابقاً المناصب التالية: مديراً عاماً لقسم الأخبار في مؤسسة الإذاعة والتلفزيون الوطنية؛ نائب مدير مؤسسة الإذاعة والتلفزيون للشؤون السياسية؛ سفيراً مفوَّضاً لإيران في الصين لأسابيع قليلة؛ المدير التنفيذ لبنك ملي إيران (البنك الوطني الإيراني)؛ رئيس إدارة التأمين المركزي

وفُتِح باب التسجيل لتقديم طلبات الترشيح للدورة الـ13 للانتخابات الرئاسية الإيرانية، في 11 أيار/مايو، لمدة 5 أيام، بعد أن حدَّد مجلس صيانة الدستور الشروط المطلوبة في المرشحين
