Syrian President Baššār al-Asad and his wife Asmā’ Al-Asad cast their votes in the presidential elections in the city of Dūma. Al-Asad confirms that “the national mobilization during the elections was enough to respond to the western states’ statements in this matter”.
Syrian President Baššār al-Asad and his wife Lady Asmā’ cast their votes in the presidential elections in the city of Dūmā in Eastern Ġūṭa.
Al-Asad after casting his vote praised the people of Dūmā for being liberated from the terrorism and that it returned to the homeland.
The Syrian President said that “the terrorists by occupying Dūmā tried to distort its picture, yet most of its people stayed in contact with the country”. Adding: “There are from the people of Dūmā and Eastern Ġūṭa who fought alongside the Syrian Army, they had martyrs in the army and the auxiliary forces”.
President al-Asad conformed that “visiting Dūmā and voting there is a confirmation that Syria is not a region against another region or a religious denomination against another”. He continued explaining: “The merit and the reaction of the people is a confirmation that Syrian citizens decision is free and independent”.
About the Western comments on the Syrian presidential elections, al-Amad reacted by saying: “the popular mobilization during the elections was enough to respond to the statements of the Western states in this matter”. Thus stressing that “what happened in Syria is not a civil war, as it is claimed in the West”.
Today the presidential elections have started within Syria, as the voters have started to turn up at the election centers since the morning to elect the president of the country from among the three candidates. In addition to President al-Asad, they are Maḥmūd Mara‘ī and ‘Abd Allah Sallūm ‘Abd Allah.
On the 20th of this month, the first phase of the elections started with the votes of Syrians living abroad.

وقال الرئيس السوري إن “الإرهابيين حاولوا من خلال احتلال دوما تشويه صورتها، لكن معظم أهلها كانوا يتواصلون مع الدولة”، مضيفاً “هناك من أهالي دوما والغوطة من قاتل مع الجيش السوري، وقدّم شهداء في الجيش والقوات الرديفة
وأكّد الرئيس الأسد أن “زيارة دوما والانتخاب فيها تأكيدٌ على أن سوريا ليست منطقة ضد منطقة، أو طائفة ضد طائفة”، وتابع موضحاً أن “الاستحقاق ورد الفعل الشعبي تأكيدٌ على أن قرار المواطن السوري حرٌ ومستقل
وبما يتعلّق بالتعليقات الغربية على الانتخابات الرئاسية السورية، رد الأسد بالقول إن “الحراك الشعبي خلال الانتخابات كان كافياً للرد على تصريحات الدول الغربية بشأنها”، مشدّداً على أن “ما جرى في سوريا ليس حرباً أهلية كما ادّعى الغرب
وانطلقت اليوم الانتخابات الرئاسية في داخل سوريا، حيث بدأ الناخبون بالتوافد إلى مراكز الاقتراع منذ الصباح، لاختيار رئيسٍ للبلاد من بين 3 مرشحين هم إضافة للرئيس الأسد، محمود مرعي، وعبد الله سلوم عبد الله
وفي العشرين من الشهر الحالي، بدأت المرحلة الأولى من الانتخابات باقتراع السوريين المقيمين في الخارج
