The African Command of the American Armed Forces announces that it will utilize the Security Assistance Brigade in Tunisia to deal with the Russian activities in Libya.
The African Command of the American Armed Forces announced that the United States will use one of its Security Assistance Brigades in Tunisia amidst fears of Russian activity in Libya.
The announcement of the African Command mentioned that “while Russia continues to ignite the fires of the conflict in Libya, the regional security in North Africa becomes ever more worried”. Adding that they study “new ways with Tunisia to treat the common security matters, including use of a security assistance brigade”.
Previously Deputy Head of Intelligence Service at the African Command of the American Armed Forces General Gregory Headfield said that Russia with transporting warplanes into Libya gained a foothold in this country.
He added that these planes haven’t been used yet, but might add new capabilities to the forces of Major General Halīfa Ḥaftar’s forces, explaining that “the matter is actually not a military gain, but setting up headquarters”.
In this context the spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova confirmed yesterday, on Friday, that “the balance of powers” on the ground in Libya is changing because of the foreign support for the sides in the conflict.
She added that “not only the situation is difficult in Libya, but the situation started to dwindle. The political and military situation in Libya is dwindling and the ceasefire, which was agreed upon is completely suspended. The military operations have renewed”.
