Algeria cuts its diplomatic ties with the Emirates, confirming that it exhausted all methods to preserve its bilateral ties. The step comes after years of tensions and accusations of interfering with Algerian internal affairs.

According to what the governmental television announced on Thursday, Algeria announced cutting its diplomatic ties with the State of the Emirates.
The television aired an urgent news that held: “Algeria decided to cut all its diplomatic ties with the State of the United Arab Emirates, after it exhausted all possible methods to preserve the bilateral ties”.
This came after years of tensions between the two countries, especially with the accusations of Algerian President ‘Abd al-Mağīd Tabbūn against Abū Zabī that it intervenes in the internal affairs of his country.
Last year the Algerian President said that the relations of his country “are warm with all Gulf countries, except one state”, indirectly hinting the Emirates.
He described the relations with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar as “brotherly”, while accused the state that he did not specify by name as interfering with the internal affairs of Algeria and aims to undermine its stability.
The Algerian media had aired fierce criticism about the Emirates, accusing it with an attempt to cause divisions in the region.
The tensions have escalated in February, when Algeria took measures to cancel the air services agreement with the Emirates singed in Abū Zabī in May 2013.
Among the main points of division is that Algeria is accusing the Emirates of supporting the Kabila Self Determination Movement (MĀK), which is a separatist movement designed as a terrorist organization in Algeria, but also the Emirates is supporting Morocco in its position about Western Sahara.

أعلنت الجزائر، اليوم الخميس، قطع علاقاتها الدبلوماسية مع دولة الإمارات، بحسب ما أفاد به التلفزيون الحكومي الخميس.
وأذاع التلفزيون خبراً عاجلاً جاء فيه: “الجزائر تقرر قطع علاقاتها الدبلوماسية مع دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة وذلك بعد استنفاد جميع الوسائل الكفيلة بالحفاظ على العلاقات الثنائية”.
أتى ذلك بعد سنوات من التوتر بين البلدين، خصوصاً مع اتهام الرئيس الجزائري عبد المجيد تبون أبوظبي بالتدخل في شؤون بلاده الداخلية
وقال الرئيس الجزائري العام الماضي إنّ علاقات بلاده “دافئة مع جميع دول الخليج باستثناء دولة واحدة”، في إشارة غير مباشرة إلى الإمارات.
ووصف العلاقات مع السعودية والكويت وعمان وقطر بأنها “أخوية”، بينما اتهم الدولة التي لم يحددها بالاسم بالتدخل في الشؤون الداخلية للجزائر والسعي إلى زعزعة استقرارها.
ووجهت وسائل إعلام جزائرية في السابق انتقادات حادة للإمارات، متهمةً إياها بمحاولة إثارة الخلافات في المنطقة.
وتصاعد التوتر في شباط/فبراير عندما بدأت الجزائر إجراءات لإلغاء اتفاقية للخدمات الجوية مع الإمارات وُقعت في أبوظبي في أيار/مايو 2013.
ومن أبرز نقاط الخلاف، تتهم الجزائر الإمارات في دعم حركة تقرير مصير القبائل (ماك)، وهي حركة انفصالية مصنفة كمنظمة إرهابية في الجزائر، كما تدعم الإمارات المغرب في موقفه بشأن الصحراء الغربية
