Syrian President Baššār al-Asad received Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman Badr ibn Ḥamad al-Būsa‘īdī and the delegation accompanying him and the two studied the bilateral relations, the fields of cooperation and the developments on the regional fold.
After his meeting with Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman Badr ibn Ḥamad al-Būsa‘īdī Syrian President Baššār al-Asad said that “what we lack as Arabs is to put a framework for the political relations”.
Al-Asad added that “handling the developments in the Arab reality and society needs a change in the political approach, and thinking on the basis of our interests and situation in international politics”.

According to the official Syrian news agency “SANA” the negotiation between al-Asad and the Omani delegation was about the excellent relations connecting Syria and Oman, the fields of bilateral cooperation going on between the two brotherly countries and the continued work on various levels was reaffirmed for the sake of strengthening the relations.
The talks also touched the developments of the situation on the Arab and regional folds and also the matters of mutual interest. President al-Asad pointed out mutual understanding and the view of closeness the two countries, Syria and Oman have about these matters.
Al-Asad remarked that “example and the leveled role of the Sultanate of Oman, its policies built on principles, its position towards Syria and its support for the Syrian people in its war against terrorism”.
Al-Būsa‘īdī said: “Syria is a cornerstone in the Arab world”.
On his own behalf the Omani Foreign Minister carried the confirmation of the Sultan of Oman Haytam ibn Ṭāriq and the firm position of Oman toward Syria to al-Asad, expressing that Syria “in a cornerstone on the Arab world, while its policies and its strong and brave positions make it very reliable in face of the threats”.
Al-Būsa‘īdī said: “My visit to Syria aims to make our relations deeper in the various fields”, pointing out that “there are good efforts being done by Arab states to connect all Arabs and correct the past mistakes and excesses”.
Apart from that Syrian Foreign Minister Fayṣal al-Miqdād also met with Minister al-Būsa‘īdī, as the matters of mutual interest were further discussed”.
Al-Miqdād said that “the visit of the Omani Foreign Minister to Syria is a turning point. We found complete understanding and interest in the Arab fold united against the challenges out countries face”. Thus confirming that “Syria in the heath of the joint Arab action”.
Al-Miqdād pointed out that “Oman stood on the side of Syria in its war against terrorism”.
It should be pointed out that Syria and the Sultanate of Oman on 24 November 2021 discussed the bilateral relations, the ways of strengthening the cooperation and the developments on the Arab and regional folds.

الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد يستقبل وزير الخارجية العماني بدر بن حمد البوسعيدي والوفد المرافق له، ويبحثان العلاقات الثنائية ومجالات التعاون، والمستجدات على الساحة الإقليمية
قال الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد بعد لقائه وزير الخارجية العماني بدر بن حمد البوسعيدي، إن “ما ينقصنا كعرب هو وضع أسس لمنهجية العلاقات السياسية”.
وأضاف الأسد أن “التعامل مع المتغيرات في الواقع والمجتمع العربي يتطلب تغيير المقاربة السياسية، والتفكير انطلاقاً من مصالحنا وموقعنا على الساحة الدولية
ووفق وكالة “سانا” السورية الرسمية، فقد دار الحديث بين الأسد والوفد العماني حول العلاقات المتميزة التي تربط سورية وعُمان ومجالات التعاون الثنائي القائم بين البلدين الشقيقين، وتمّ التشديد على أهمية مواصلة العمل على مختلف المستويات من أجل تعزيز هذه العلاقات.
كما تناول الحديث مستجدات الأوضاع على الساحتين العربية والإقليمية والقضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك، وأشار الرئيس الأسد إلى الفهم المتبادل والرؤية المتقاربة التي يمتلكها البلدان، سوريا وسلطنة عمان، إزاء هذه القضايا.
ونوّه الأسد بـ”النهج والدور المتوازن لسلطنة عمان وسياساتها المبدئية ومواقفها تجاه سوريا ودعمها للشعب السوري في حربه ضد الإرهاب”.
البوسعيدي: سوريا ركن أساسي في العالم العربي
بدوره، نقل الوزير العماني للأسد، تأكيد سلطان عمان هيثم بن طارق وحرصه على مواقف عُمان الثابتة تجاه سوريا، معتبراً أنّها “ركنٌ أساسيٌ في العالم العربي وسياساتها ومواقفها القوية والشجاعة تجعل التعويل عليها كبيراً في مواجهة التحديات”.
وقال البوسعيدي إن “زيارتي إلى سوريا تهدف إلى تعميق علاقاتنا في مختلف المجالات”، مشيراً إلى أن “هناك جهود خيرة تقوم بها دول عربية من أجل لم شمل العرب وتصحيح أخطاء الماضي وتجاوزه”.
هذا والتقى وزير الخارجية السوري فيصل المقداد بالوزير البوسعيدي حيث تم استكمال مناقشة المواضيع ذات الاهتمام المشترك.
وقال المقداد إن “زيارة وزير الخارجية العماني إلى سوريا مفصلية، ووجدنا كل التفهم والسعي لموقف عربي موحد في مواجهة التحديات التي تتعرض لها بلداننا”، مؤكداً أن “سوريا في قلب العمل العربي المشترك”.
كما لفت المقداد إلى أن “عُمان وقفت إلى جانب سوريا في حربها ضد الإرهاب”.
