A Palestinian leadership member has revealed to al-Mayadeen that the American and Israeli pressure was the reason behind the announcement by the Qatari Foreign Ministry saying that it is evaluating the mediation it takes between Ḥamās and the Israeli Occupation.

A source in the Palestinian leadership has revealed to al-Mayadeen that Qatar faced “severe American and Israeli pressure” a while ago to make it put pressure on Ḥamās about the ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip.

On Tuesday the source explained that this is the true fact behind the recent announcement of Qatari Prime Minister Muḥammad ibn ‘Abd ar-Raḥmān Āl Tānī that Doha is about to “evacuate the mediation it takes”.

According to the source the Ḥamās Movement informed all sides concerned that “it holds on to the mediation of Qatar” and that it “does not accept any alternative to it”.

The source also pointed out that Washington asked Türkiye to intervene in the course of the negotiations and put pressure on “Ḥamās” to bend its position. He also pointed out that Ḥamās “has welcomed the presence of Ankara” in the Palestinian matter.

The same leadership source also confirmed that Türkiye “will not be a substitute for Qatar”.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry had announced earlier today that Qatar in committed to the mediation efforts about Gaza, yet currently it is in a state of “reevaluation”.

At the same time the Reuters and the Turkish media cited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Tuesday saying that “he does no believe that the Ḥamās Movement would leave Qatar”.

Media advisor to the President of Ḥamās Political Bureau Ṭāhir an-Nūnū has confirmed to al-Mayadeen that the Occupation “still refuses the matter of permanent ceasefire and the matter of the return of the refugees”, confirming that this “does no lead to an agreement”.

Also President of the Ḥamās Political Bureau Ismā‘īl Haniyya talking to the Anadolu Agency has explained that “Israel hasn’t agreed to a ceasefire”, and that “what it wants is to get its captives back and after that renew the war. This will not happen”.

كشف مصدر قيادي فلسطيني، للميادين، بأنّ قطر تعرّضت إلى “ضغوط أميركية وإسرائيلية شديدة” قبل. فترة، لتمارس بدورها ضغوطاً على حركة حماس، بشأن مفاوضات وقف إطلاق النار في قطاع غزة.

وأوضح المصدر، اليوم الثلاثاء، أنّ هذه هي الخلفية الحقيقية، لإعلان رئيس الوزراء القطري، محمد بن عبد الرحمن. آل ثاني، أخيراً، أنّ الدوحة في صدد “تقييم الوساطة التي تقوم بها”.

وكانت وزارة الخارجية القطرية قد أعلنت، في وقتٍ سابق اليوم، أنّ قطر ملتزمة بجهود الوساطة. بشأن غزة، ولكنّها حالياً في مرحلة “إعادة تقييم”.

بالتزامن، نقلت وكالة “رويترز” ووسائل إعلام تركية، عن الرئيس التركي، رجب طيب إردوغان، اليوم. الثلاثاء، قوله إنّه “لا يعتقد أنّ حركة حماس ستغادر قطر“.
