American State Secretary Antony Blinken congratulates Prime Minister Šahbāz Šarīf for his recent election and confirms that his country is looking forward to continuing the cooperation with the Pakistani government.
The United States of America congratulated Šahbāz Šarīf for his recent election to be the Prime Minister of Pakistan after the parliament revoke confidence from the government of ‘Imrān Hān, who accused Washington of being involved in a plot to oust him from power.
Hān resigned last Saturday after the parliament revoked confidence from his government by 174 votes, only to elect after that the leader of the Pakistani Islamic Leauge Šahbāz Šarīf as Prime Minister.
American Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement: “The United States congratulates the recently elected Prime Minister of Pakistan Šahbāz Šarīf”, thus pointing out that his country is looking forward to “continuing the old cooperation with the Pakistani government”.
Blinken added: “The vision of the United States for Pakistan is that to be strong, affluent, and democratic which is the interest of both countries”.
It should be remembered that after the election of Šarīf as Prime Minister more than 100 MPs resigned from the party of Hān, and also huge protests broke out to support him in the public squares of Islamabad and in a number of other cities.

وزير الخارجية الأميركي أنتوني بلينكن يهنّئ رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني شهباز شريف لانتخابه حديثاً، ويؤكد تطلّع بلاده إلى مواصلة التعاون مع الحكومة الباكستانية.
هنّأت الولايات المتحدة الأميركية شهباز شريف بانتخابه رئيساً لوزراء باكستان، بعد حجب البرلمان الثقة عن حكومة عمران خان، الذي اتّهم واشنطن بالتورّط في مؤامرة لإخراجه من السلطة.
وأُقيل خان السبت الماضي بعدما حجب البرلمان الثقة عن حكومته بـ 174 صوتاً، لينتخب بعد ذلك زعيم حزب الرابطة الإسلامية الباكستانية، شهباز شريف، رئيساً للوزراء.
وقال وزير الخارجية الأميركي أنتوني بلينكن، في بيان: “الولايات المتحدة تهنّئ رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني المنتخب حديثاً شهباز شريف”، مشيراً إلى تطلّع بلاده إلى “مواصلة التعاون القديم مع الحكومة الباكستانية”.
وأضاف بلينكن: “رؤية الولايات المتحدة لباكستان قوية ومزدهرة وديمقراطية هي أمر ضروري لمصلحة البلدين”.
يذكر أنّه بعد انتخاب شريف رئيساً للوزراء، استقال أكثر من 100 نائب عن حزب خان، فيما خرجت تظاهرات كبيرة مؤيدة له في ساحات العاصمة إسلام أباد، وعددٍ من المدن الأخرى
